David Magerman is a co-founder and Managing Partner at Differential Ventures. Previously, he spent the entirety of his career at Renaissance Technologies, widely recognized as the world’s most successful quantitative hedge fund management company. After a decorated career in quantitative finance, he is using his data science, software development, and statistical modeling expertise to help startups succeed in the global marketplace. David holds a PhD in Computer Science from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Sciences and Information from the University of Pennsylvania.
David is also an avid philanthropist both locally and in Israel. He is the founder of the Kohelet Foundation, which has supported Jewish education in the Philadelphia area, across the United States, and in Israel. He helped launch the Lab School at Kohelet Yeshiva, a K-8 modern orthodox school promoting modern pedagogy and student-centered learning. He has funded projects in day schools across Philadelphia, including the Smart School program and the Philadelphia Jewish Day School Collaborative. He has funded a number of projects at Koren Publications, including the Ani Tefillah Educational Siddur series, as well as the Sacks Chumash and Tanakh projects. He is a major donor to outreach programs like Partners in Torah, Momentum Unlimited and The Lord Rabbi Jonathan Sacks Legacy Foundation. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of Yeshiva University and a member of the Board of Overseers of the Engineering School of the University of Pennsylvania.
