To commenter #4--I'm so sorry your daughter is going off the derech. This must be incredibly painful for you and your family. To commenter #2--I agree with you, which is why we need to practice using common sense. To Lori Palatnik--Yasher Koach and a big mazel tov to Carina!! Also, let me thank you once again for providing close captioning in your blogs. I hope to meet you in person one day.

Living in a Jewish environment unfortunately does NOT guarantee that your children will continue in a religious path. My daughter had the best of everything - frum schools, seminary, great Jewish neighbourhood, yet , for whatever reason, chose a path that is wreaking havoc in our home. She is living with a non-Jewish young man who has no interest in converting. She has every intention of marrying this person. While I'm happy for Carina, unfortunately, kids going off the derech is rampant in our society. Rabbis have to open up their homes to these crying neshamas before it's too late. My daughter does attend Aish classes with her boyfriend but he is an atheist. The rabbis do their best to answer his questions but he doesn't understand why we can't accept him into our home. It's wonderful to see hundreds of young people celebrating Shabbat at NCSY and Aish or at other outreach organizations, but what about those that have been frum for most of their lives? They need just as much nurturing as those that are secular.

A double edged sword
The internet is such a marvelous thing. Yet like everything, it is a double-edged sword, the potential for great good, and g- d forbid the reverse. Great caution is required. Clearly a presursor to Moshiach's arrival, may it be SOON!
