Delving deeper , yes and no ?

it is inspirational on one level but on another something is going wrong, my gut tells me if we are trying to do good in areas that do not actually if we are honest really turn us on then , we are trying..It's the geo at work .. It's not really God, in the sense that a child is captivated by this or that and in the next moment something else, what great scientists and artists also have this inspiration, if it doesn't relly interest you then don't do it , wait for the inspitration to come , question and explore . But failure is a sure sign we are engaged in what we know deep down isn't really our thing , in Zen medling in the affairs of others they call "intereference", how can someone who has never been poor help the poor , vewy often self interest born out of years of struggle produces the sense of solidarity and committmnet to a common cause, but do good-ing just meets with a subconscious rebuttal by thosae who sense this person really isn't on the same wavelength and the project doesn't work. About Rabbi Noach Weinberg Zt"l

I can't believe it's been two years since his passing. When I first found and started returning to the aish.com website, it was Rabbi Noach Weinberg's Zt"l 48 ways to wisdom I used to listen to and read. They were and still are very inspiriing. The aish.com website has definitly changed my life, and as I have since read it has changed others as well; leading one to conversion, believe it or not. His words were that powerful. He very well could be the reason I want to convert. What a legacy he left!

As always, a beautiful message

One also sometimes says to himself when he fails that maybe it's a sign from Heaven that it's 'not meant to be' or that I'm not 'cut out' for this work. This may, at times, be true but I suspect that these frum excuses are overutilized. Regarding your opening question, 'what can we do about Darfur, apartheid, radical Islam, etc?', your talk only addressed being persistent in the pursuit of our goals but it did not really address what is there that can actually be done about the above world problems. I believe the answer is yes, to be persistent and never give up. In what area? In our pursuit of serving Hashem and helping others do the same. And, as we know, that will bring G-d's blessings into the world. The good deeds we do in our own little worlds have cosmic influence. That is what we can do about Darfur, terrorism, etc. Reb Yaakov, I second the motion of comment 6 above. Keep the inspiration coming to all your listeners! We look forward each week to your words of wisdom.

The *Curse* of Excuses

The attitude of "what's the use", "there's nothing I can do, etc. is all too prevalent. I inform my clients/patients that "there is no such thing as failure IF you learn from that experience." Unfortunately, many go about repeating the same behavior and expecting a different outcome. When one gets locked into a state of negative thinking, the result is a *negative* behavior.

the "can" opener

The other day I lost my can opener. I couldn't find it anywhere, and I was thinking about the word, and how it could be used, in a metaphoric way, but also that it means, something else, too. Yes, we can! Perhaps a political echo. All the same it's true. Your article did remind me of this. I have been writing my heart out for many years, now. on Aish and in other places. I feel often, so totally unheard. Yes, one drop in the ocean, as you have said. what difference can one person possibly make. And yet, I do believe, as you do, as Chief Justice Brandeis, deeply, in The Power of One. Whatever gifts we all have, and we each do have gifts, it's in the unwrapping, in how we use them, that we can, we do, and we WILL make a difference if only we will it. And so I am concluding this little commentary by saying, I feel the depths of this, and yes, it is so completely Right. And so I will continue writing, into what so far I do perceive of, as a void. meaning I don't think I am being heard. I wrote today, as always about how animals are being treated, in words, on these sites, and about how wrong this is. I KNOW it. I believe that any Messiah, any change in this world, will require a depth of love I don't yet see. I really do. As does is a word that is also about deer, with fine antlers, and a beauty and grace that must OUT.

Rabbi Weinberg's 48Ways2Wisdom Inspires Education Reform

Many years ago, I read Rabbi Weinberg's 48 Ways to Wisdom comments on Aish.com . I loved the way he numbered them, from Avos 6.6. I listened to his tapes on the Ways. This inspired me to work on ways to fix our broken school systems. Rabbi Weinberg realized that the way to improve learning and life is to break it down into small doable steps. Because of his 48 Ways I persist in the effort to improve education. Thank you Rabbi Weinberg. Thank you Rabbi Salomon...
