Your words of wisdom are profound. Clarity DOES go right out the window once intimacy is initiated. I wish this were required viewing for every eighth grade girl and for every year of high school.

When my son was in high school, the students were required to take a one semester course on personal finance. Several parents were in an uproar about this, and felt that a discussion about finances should only come from the home. I was in the minority on this issue, and had even suggested such a course offering to the head of the guidance department. Even in 2013 finances are a taboo subject. When people are dating it is crucial for them to explore the other person's fiscal philosophy. I would not ask to see a bank statement on a first date, but I would want to know if the person I'm interested in is a saver or a spender. Yes, we already KNOW we are physically attracted to the other person! Now let's look at the inside as well as the outside.
