Make your wig last - save money with these secrets:How to make your wig last. These simple techniques will save you a lot of money. I have some wigs that are over 7 years old and still look great. - Don't skimp on quality when you purchase. If you want the wig to last, then buy 100% human hair. - Keep the wig dry. It is very important that you don't wear it on your own wet hair because the net will expand and it looses its shape, and the hair will loose its shape - it will get puffy and hard to style. Make sure you dry your own hair completely before you put the wig on. (This includes sweat) - Wash your wig every 2 weeks. - Wash your wig with COLD water ONLY. Never wash with hot water. - Let it dry off naturally after you wash it. If you need to style it with a blower, do it afterwards. - When you do use a blow dryer to style, make sure you use the COLD air setting and not hot. On the final shine, its OK to use the hot air for a very short time - but not close to the hair. - Always keep your own hair under the wig clean. - Use formula capsules to keep the hair in great shape - put a little in your hand and rub on when the hair is still damp and it will fix all the split ends. - Use shampoo for dry hair because usually the wigs go through a lot of chemical treatments - dry hair shampoo is less abrasive.. - Use very good conditioner each time you wash, but the best is to use a mask for dry hair. - If the hair looks dry and not lively; you can add silicone in drops or spray and this will give flexibility to the hair. After you add silicone twice, you should wash the wig because the silicone absorbs dust and it can make knots. (Silcone also repairs split ends.) - When you are not using your wig, keep it in a closed space (in a closed closet for example) on a foam head. It is very important that you keep the netting in the right shape. Folding and packing your wig will wear it out very quickly. - Keep it away from dust. - Don't wear it when you are cooking or around a lot of steam, or sources of heat / fire. - Don't comb it from the 'roots' because it can open the knots and you can loose hair. - If you don't want to restyle it all the time, you can put in a few rolls in between uses and this will keep the style. This seems like work, but it actually saves a lot of time and it will take you less than 60 seconds to put a couple rollers in. |
