Forgiveness

I just watched this video, and feel obligated to do something about it. There was someone who wronged me terribly and now I feel like I have to forgive them to make Moshiach come. It's so hard, but I will try.

I have met people that did not know how to grieve or to pray and this comes from them saying these things about themselves. My heart goes out to them and did at that time. I have been studying and received on the 1st of Av, a more timely fashion I could not hope for, the book on Tisha B''Av and other fast days. The more I study the more I want to know. I am lucky in that I can grieve and pray, but I never want to let anyone see me cry. I always like to learn from Rabbi Salomon's videos because in a few short minutes so much is said and I identify with it so. Thank you. K

Forgiveness

Thank you so much for this short message (not to mention your longer ones in books and other audios). I actually have someone who wronged me terribly and I worked on forgiving them.

Very nice and inspiring. B'Ezrat Hashem, let us all take this message to heart and hopefully mashiach will come. Also, an important part IS action, and while fasting is important, the purpose of Tisha B'Av is not staring at the cookies while groaning and holding your stomach. We fast to get a little inkling of the suffering back then and to atone for our and all of Klal Yisrael's misdeeds, past and present. Have a meaningful fast everyone.

a moment of forgiveness

After harboring resentment for some years for being wronged by a friend, I followed Rabbi Solomon suggestion. I approached this person and used the Rabbi's words: Let it go. We are now hopefully one step closer to Moshiach. Thanks Rabbi Solomon

what can we do about it?

I have been having horrible lushon Hora going on with my step son, at shule. I have approached his several times nicely about stopping it. It is affecting my other son, since it is about him and is not true. This behavior does not stop even though we have witnesses and I have ask the rabbi to talk with him What else can we do?

I think the Tisha Bav forgiveness of one person is a wonderful idea. We have been encouraging it for 2 years now in our community.
But I want to go a step further. Please pick a Family member that you have not spoken to and call them up. First let us clean our homes of hatred, then we can make the nation whole. If brothers and sisters don't talk how is the future of Am Yisroel going to get along. Children and Parents should try to get along . If we have strong families then we can have a strong country . To forgive...

Thank you. I would just like to point out that sometimes it can be very insulting when a person says, "I forgive you." It's as if you are insinuating that that person once did you a wrong, while it is very possible that the person has a totally different viewpoint, and the forgiveness will bring about even greater destruction, instead of rebuilding.

FORGIVENESS

Forgiveness,
We all need it. We need to forgive and be forgiven. Forgiveness cleanses the heart of the person that forgives and the person who is forgiven. This is the real path to Tisha B'Av.

Your piece is absolutely amazing and teriffic, as always! At the risk of nitpicking, I'd like to point out that though you say it's been OVER 2,000 years since the destruction of the Second Sanctuary, it would seem we have not yet reached 2,000...

Forgiving and forgetting may not be so easy...

Since it is said that "life is short", then there is reason to forgive other's and one self quickly, depending on how much pain is suffered. While we can forgive others ourselves, it is not very easy, and often a waste of time to anticipate an apology from someone who deliberately did you wrong, including the demand for an apology. Ergo, that's what is one other thing that is most likely wrong with the world - many don't know how to forgive and hold grudges mistakening it for justice. Just look what has happened in non-Jewish warfares including Christianity with the crusades, inquisitions, etc., and radical Islam with terrorism and suicide bombers. If only more turned to the importance of Torah, the world would be more unified, as it is the direct writings of G-d, thereby Jews being more proud of being Jewish and non-Jews obeying the 7 simple Noahide laws.

for this.. You suggested to find the most difficult person to forgive, and thn just let it go, forgive him. When you come to think of it, this IS the way to improve the world! I will certainly give myself some time thinking if I can just let it go.. Besides.. it will make all of us feel better if there isn't any shadows in our heart.
