If Hamas would know...
If Hamas would know that the result of their actions would be unity of the Jews - they would not do it...
If Hamas would know that the only reason that HaShem allows it to exist is to wake us Jews up, to unify us and finally make us to bring Mashiah - Hamas would dissolve itself and fade into oblivion.

Spread kindling and somehow a fire happens
Israel has a well-known kidnapping risk. As a nation and individuals, they they can act to promote or diminish such kidnapping using well understood methods. Actions, attitudes and responses that march to the adversary's drum will lead to more kidnappings. For example, the US traded five key enemy leaders who were in secure custody for one useless traitor. After this, said enemy gleefully announced that they will seek to kidnap more Americans. At some point, after that comment is forgotten, they will. In the Israeli case, all three appear to have been taken without a fight, essentially handing the enemy a free kidnap us card and encouraging any random jihadi to grab a Jew. If the kidnappers know that every such attempt will result either in dead kidnappers and no hostages or dead hostaes and no hostages plus a bloody pursuit for them, there will be few or no kidnappings in the future. A razor knife, an awl, a stiff piece of wire... many simple things can transform a clean easy win for the enemy into a failed operation, leaving a trail of captured kidnapper, hostages who will not live without major medical intervention (and thus useless to the terrorist) and a humiliating defeat, but only if the targets have the will to fight. When they have the attitude "Even to save myself I will not die fighting, let someone else die fighting to save me" they have invited endless attacks and the country will march, unwittingly, to the enemy's song.

Whatever effort people can make whether it's physical or spiritual, everything counts.

Rabbi,There are two responses to this tragedy. One is the way you expressed what we, as individuals becoming unified to get the boys back, are doing all over the world. However, the second is what the Israeli government should do in an official way to protect it's citizens as is the right of every country on earth. 1. Never again trade prisioners for anybody, and stand by it.2. We used to depend on the US to carry the hammer of retribution or pressure. We, Israel, need to make it clear that actions like this will exact a heavy, very heavy price for it's folly. We know where the enemy lives and they need to know they are not safe anywhere in the world, and mean it, Acts like this should incur immediate terrible reactions without notice. What good is a big stick if it's use is relegated to the status of a walking cane that has no real function?Anyway, that's my opinion.

Time to put pressure on Gaza
We must get the people of Gaza too put pressure on the Hamas too return the children. This can be done without firing one bullet - First you give them 24 hours too return the kidnapped children than you cut off their electric - than jam all their communications - than a blockade - than shut off their water supplies. When the people of Gaza start to suffer because of Hamas - we may get results !!!!!!! But of course Israel will not do this because the UN may not approve, or Obuma and all of the left wing liberals might not like that!
