Alan Levine: Training student pro-Israel activists

Alan Levine, is doing a remarkable job motivating and training student activist. The education college students receive, will shape their opinions and their adult life and professional life. As managing director of Hasbara Fellowships, he interacts with thousands of students, and helps them understand the situation in Israel and the importance of defending her. Kol Hakavod to Alan Levine and the staff at Hasbara Felloships.

For me Benjamin Netanyahu is the man of the year

(57) Anonymous, December 29, 2012 12:28 PM

I nominate Prime Minister Netanyahu

I nominate PM Netanyahu for his eloquence, strength and pride in standing up to President Obama, for speaking the truth (an anomaly) at the UN, and for all he has had to contend with in 2012; the Iranians, Hamas, the Egyptians, the list is endless. He is a hero.

(56) Elisabeth Soros, December 28, 2012 12:27 AM

Jewish person of the Year

My opinion is definitely PM Netanyahu. He is a great person. He is serving in the most difficoult time. He is fearless and He is doing His very best as it is possible for the Holy Land. He is taking all the risk what is good for Israel. The other Jews just pray for Him and ask All the Blessing of Hashem for PM Netanyahu to do all the work what the Nation want..Israel still in battling for her just cause is actually fighting for the survival of a world of decency. Those who are supporting PM Netanyahu, supporting the Eretz Israel to remain strong as possible. Hashem Bless Israel and her PM Netanyahu.

(55) Judah, December 27, 2012 10:15 PM

Sheldon Adelson

Isn't afraid to speak out for Israel and the Jewish people, and puts his money where his mouth is. American Jewish support for Obama is shameful. Thank G-d for Adelson.

(54) Caleb Joshua, December 27, 2012 1:43 PM

Jewish Person of the Year

I am of the opinion that a person of the year should considered based on among other things his or her extra contribution toward the progress and existence of Israel as a nation. Having said that I think a politician such as Netanyahu (no disrespect to him) is simply doing what he is obligated to do as the country's CEO. I will thus give my vote to all true Israelites (not politicians) who strive to see to it that the Most High’s promises and commissions to Israel are being observed and my second vote will go to men and women of faith globally (myself included) who keenly and relentlessly fight and stand by Israel against all kinds of vilification, dishonest reporting in their own countries. Bringing awareness about the other side of the coin about Israel to the misinformed people who are being brainwashed by the Arab, Foreign media and compromised politicians have become a daily task to some of us.

(53) Jan, December 27, 2012 11:31 AM

I nominate Avi Mayer

For his constant work to defend the Jewish people, Israel, and it's right to exist.

Jan, December 27, 2012 4:23 PM

Further info on Avi Mayer

Avi Mayer heads social media for the Jewish Agency for Israel. In the activist world, he is widely regarded as one of the most social media-savvy Israel activists.

Rav Eliyashiv- one of our greatest

greatness, humility and the ability to raise above pain

(50) Marsha Ambrose, December 27, 2012 1:47 AM

Benjamin Netanyahu - has guts

Netanyahu had the guts to stand up for Israel & the Jewish people at the United Nations. He had the guts to rightfully continue building new settlements in Israel. He had the guts to show strength & not appeasement. G-d bless him.

(49) Michael Fox, December 27, 2012 1:05 AM

You are called Man

Man of the year? Klall Yisroel! I learned that we are collectively Man. There are the eyes of the nation - the wise sages of each generation. There are those that act and work on our behalf - the hands so to speak (I believe they are called askanim ). There are those who hold up the nation through their physical support - the feet so to speak. We all play a unique roll and together serve to form a big man. We are the Man of the Year.

(48) Chava, December 26, 2012 11:37 PM

person of the year

Mrs Allison Josephs, the woman that runs Jew in the City.

(47) Melvyn S. Berger, December 26, 2012 11:09 PM

Person of The Year

Benjamin Netanyahu for preparing for a war against those in Gaza and getting the rockets to stop.

(46) Jerry Cohen, December 26, 2012 9:48 PM

Netanyahu

At least in my mind therte is no question as to who should be the Jewish person of the year: Bibi Netanyahu

(45) Gene, December 26, 2012 8:13 PM

Mr. Zev Wolfson ZTL

Mr. Wolfson was niftar earlier this calendar year and in my opinion He was not just this years person of the year but the person of the year every year since he came to this country. I am only basing this on what this Holy Man has done for Yiddishkeit single handedly. May His Memory Be For A Blessing!

(44) Michael Friedman, December 26, 2012 7:51 PM

Rabbi Jonathan Sacks

Rabbi Sacks has been a true diplomat for both Judaism and the Jewish People. He writes and speaks for ALL Jews, not just those of a particular level of observance or minhag or political view. I have seen many votes for Netanyahu and, while his policies may or may not be good for Israel, he certainly makes no effort to put Israel or Jews in a positive light to the other nations. Rabbi Sacks has emerged, not just as a leader for 2012, but for this generation!

(43) Anonymous, December 26, 2012 7:29 PM

I appreciate your endeavors to enlighten

(42) Keith, UK, December 26, 2012 5:05 PM

"Full Agreement"

Regarding all who suggest PM Binyamin Netanyahu, you have my "full, utter, total and complete" agreement... "Go for it BiBi!!!".... :)

(41) Jools, December 26, 2012 3:44 PM

Chief Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks

(40) Anonymous, December 26, 2012 2:42 PM

Rabbi Elyashiv

Rabbi Elyashiv ZT''L (passed away a few months ago) was definitely one of the greatest influences in our generation in the Torah Orthodox communities. He used his long life as a sterling example of constant Torah study coupled with community responsibility as a Posek of the highest order. He was honored and respected among all types of Jews -- whether it was the Yeshiva people, or even the secular groups. They all knew here was a man that lived the life of holiness.

(39) Emilie, December 26, 2012 2:38 PM

Benjamin Netanyahu

Benjamin Netanyahu schould be voted most important person of the year for caring about the Jewish people and protecting them in their homeland and allowing them to prosper and develop even while terrorists are trying to kill them.

(38) Eugene Pello, December 26, 2012 2:11 PM

Benjamin Netanyahu

He consistently makes a strong effort to protect the Jewish state of Israel

(37) Rita Bayrasli, December 26, 2012 2:10 PM

The Jewish Person of the year: Benjamin Netanyahu

For one reason alone...Benjamin Netanyahu is the NEW Jew who demonstrates agressiveness rather than passiveness to this generation of Jews. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Shoshana - Jerusalem, December 26, 2012 6:35 PM

never again?

"NEVER AGAIN" what?

Steve, December 27, 2012 2:45 AM

Netanyahu Stands in the way of Peace

I very much respect your opinion, however I don't believe the Prime Minister reflects the opinions and/or values of the NEW Jew or the new world order. Israel and it's leadership must accept the region for what it is and Israel's place among the Arab countries. It no longer has the military power to simply swat away it's enemies like flies at a Bar BQ, and finally must reassess what changes are acceptable to secure it's long-term future. Unfortunately, Netanyahu has never had the necessary vision to look at the world map as a puzzle as see where Israel fits. It is his biggest weakness.

Jay, December 27, 2012 10:30 AM

It's Netanyahu's fault?

So, it's Netanyahu that stands in the way of peace? And what of Hamas relentlessly firing rockets at cities in Israel for sport? Looks like someone's been reading a little too much of the New York Times.

Rabbi Sacks, the Jew of the Year and many more years to come. He makes us proud to be Jewish. His quiet and unassuming manner and his compassion for Jews of every stripe is very touching.

(31) TMay, December 26, 2012 8:17 AM

Here are 2.

Bibi because he is trying to prevent another Holocaust of the Jewish people, and which would include the Palestinians by proximity, despite his message falling on tin ears. Next one on the list is Lord Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks.

He has rigorously defended Israel against the pressures brought by the Palestinians, the United States, and many members of the United Nations to yield to the demands of the Palestinians.

(20) DAVID WEISS, December 26, 2012 1:53 AM

BINYAMIN NETANYAHU for Jewish Person of the Year

His decisions and leadership have made Israel safer. He somehow managed to get along with the disagreeable Barak Obama. Our four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren are safer because of Bibi.

(19) anonymous, December 26, 2012 1:05 AM

Why emulate the boyim? Who cares?

Who cares? Why should we copy the goyische, ultra-liberal , anti-Israel Time Magazine? If we had to nominate someone, my nomination would be the Ba'al T'shuvah, the non-Observant Jew who has returned to Torah, despite the fact that non-Torah Jews still sadly make up the vast majority of our People.

(18) Wendy, December 26, 2012 1:00 AM

Binjamin Netanyahu should be Jewish person of 2012

Binyamin Netanyahu should be living Jewish person of 2012. He has powerfully and gracefully stood up for Israel against the entire world which continually tries to take steps, large or small, for political, religious or economic reasons, to undermine or destroy it. He always stands and speaks with poise, intelligence and a backbone of steel. He also selects people in the government who represent and defend Israel eloquently and profoundly to the world.

Lori palatnik - She has re-inspired, re-invigorated and re-connected thousands of women (and through them, thousands more of husbands, children and friends) to their Judaism. We came to Lori as burned-out mothers and left as strong, Jewish women. If others are truly the foundation of Judaism in the home, and Lori sends thousands of mothers home re-charged and re-committed to their Judaism, then Lori has contributed more than just about anybody to the Jewish people! Thank you, Lori!

(Since TIME Magazine once recognized a Machine of the Year-The Computer), I vote for the Event of The Year -the 12th completion of Talmud Bavli of the Daf Yomi (a 2 sided page a day) in MetLife Stadium 3 days after the fasting of Thisha Beav. This event united over 90.000 Torah Jews of all kinds of stripes, almost 2,000 years after the 2nd Temple was destroyed because senseless hatred and infighting.
