how true!

There is a custom to read part of the Hagada on Shabbat Hagadol. We took out the Hagadot and read it adding on the different commentaries. I glanced at another book and earmarked interesting short stories to tell over. One adult was uninspired in the days before Pesach, I actually offered him a deal, I would pay for every page that he read, copied and told over at the seder. Cost me a pretty penny, but he was prepared, shared and participated with happiness, which is what I wanted him to do.

Stuff for young children

Hi Rabbi, this is a very good message for Pesach. You are right, thank you. I am trying to think of what I can do for my son, who is almost two to help make it special for him, even at his young age. It would probably be fun to have some kind of toy, something simple, to represent each of the plagues, like rubber frogs for the frogs, maybe a few small white balls for the hail, red food coloring in the water for the blood, maybe stickers of grasshoppers or other insects for the locust, still trying to think of others. Thank you though. I will try to look up a good question to ask also. Thanks for the tip.

passover preparations

rabbi, you are so right. one year i waited until the last minute and wound up having to go to my "3rd choice" hotel. the 1st and 2nd choices were already full. now, i start preparing 6 weeks in advance. it might seem extreme, but who would have guessed that both my parents AND in-laws would be totally booked for passover.
