Tuition

Everyone is kvetching about the "tuition crisis." But few are doing anything about it, and whenever an idea is proposed, it's shot down by large segments of the community. We will not succeed until we work together on this one.

Boycott Exxon-Mobile

Until they clean up the mess in Montana. Targeting one gas company would probably lead those gas stations to lower their prices. Also, part of higher gas prices is due to commodities speculators. The station owners are quick to raise prices in reaction to an increase in the cost of a barrel of oil, but slow and reluctant to lower them when the market price comes down.

REDUCE GAS PRICES

IF WE TRAY TO USE OUR CARS THE LESS POSSIBLE. TO USE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION OR COMMUTING CARS. THE PRICES OF GAS WILL DROP. LETS DO IT !

We all need to stand up against

the plans to divide once again Jerusalem, the heart and soul of the Jewish People. Also we need to stand up against all of those foreigners (even if they are presidents of a superpower!) that tell us how many houses to build in our capital.

boycott one of the oil companies in order to bet the price of gas down.

If we choose just one company and not buy their product, just wait and see how fast the price of gas will come down.

if everyone practiced smiling for just 3 minutes a day, they will find it much easier to smile. using this as a tool we should smile at everyone we see, in no time at all the world will be a much happier place.

Protecting Israel's Jewish Identity

We all need to get together and put pressure on current administration in Israel to finally do something about the Arab villages being illegally built in The Galil. Also we need to make our voices heard on the issue of Yehuda and The Shomron.

Look What We Can Accomplish When We Get Together

Leave it to the Rabbi to come up with some common sense advice. Koodos! We should get together and form our own political parties in the U.S. If the Republicans and the Democrats won't do the people's bidding, it's time for US to form new political parties and do away with them. Look what happened to the Whig Party - it's no more. I hear complaints that the Middle Class is being done away with. Let's form our own political party to protect the interests of the Middle Class and Working Class Americans which will do the people's bidding not the bidding of special interests. If we make the effort and put the time in, with patience we'll once again rule our country and not negate the rule to others. Makes sense to me. I mean the Republican Party didn't just appear out of thin air, people worked to make it a reality.

make committees to help each other

Recently, in my community in Baltimore, Maryland we and other Jewish woman have started new committees. The purpose of these committees is simply to give. Examples are tehillim groups, new baby committee, shiurim, helping with shiduchim, arranging meals for someone who just gave birth, chavrusas etc... Thank you for this great video! Am Yisrael Chai!

Price war

Reb Yaakov, It was hard to believe that yo unever ate any cottage cheese in your lifetime. Didn't you know cheese blintzes and cheese lasagna and many other dairy food items may have had cottage cheese as an ingredient. Anyway your message was as usual right on the money (no pun intended). It is about time that we make a stand on the way prices of some foods are just getting unrealistic to afford. I hear a few years ago that when the price of gas was rising there was a plan to boycott getting gasoline at the gas stations. Someone wrote that if we would stop for two days and noone were to buy gasoline and the gas stations would have not one customer all day, it would be enough of a reason for the prices to drop. I think that would work with literally anything. Take a bottle of milk which has gone from 1.25 to over 2.50 in just the last 3-4 years. I am sure if the consumers stop buying th eproduct the manufacturer would drop the price. I also believe that the poultry companies and the companies that are producing all the beef and veal that we are accustomed to buying would also drop the prices if we the consumers stop buying these products which are just so expensive right now. Together

Choose your battles. The cheese revolt is a metaphor for gaining power. The first comment from Annette, asks that congregations push to learn and discuss issues, old and new with the guidance of a Rabbi . My suggestion is to have our Rabbis reach out to invite the different factions of Jews to present their kinship and differences. A strong attempt should be made to bond all Jewish people together. No Shanda to be Secular, Reformed or Reconstructionist in practice. Too much disparaging sentiments are expressed by scolding. We Jews share in a great history and we must learn to respect and unite, so that our power can save us through trying times.

a cottage industry

I almost expected YOU to take a bite of cottage cheese at the end of this address. It would have clinched that statement, powerfully felt. Just say Cheese and smile for the camera. Yes, it's THE message of our times. And I would say it could be, a cottage industry, meaning a grass roots movement, as routes do take us places.

After cottage cheese...whats next??

There is power in numbers......maybe we can all stand up to the men who don't give their wives "Gets." I think there are alot of people with power (i.e...Rabbi's of shuls) who could have alot of influence if they only stepped out of their comfort zone.

speak up on speaking out

so that's one of the lessons of this week's parasha, Balak Aharon did not speak up and stop Moshe from hitting the rock - twice! oops there are so many things to speak up and speak out about now a days, we feel overwhelmed at keeping up with the research to make sure we know what we're talking about But we need to keep it up - and we need good informed advise on this topic; some ideas on 'how to' : -Our shul Rabbi speaks to us weekly and brings in speakers to keep us primed (used to the idea of speaking up) and informed on topics to being proactive ask your Rabbi to the congregation informed, and trained on how to be proactive -we have about 4 shiurim on Shabbas mornings, sometimes 2 of them on contemporary issues -guest speakers are invited to join us for Shabbas and speak about 'speaking up/out and being proactive' -get and keep your rabbi's advise along the way -almost every congregation has someone who knows the law and halacha, and can share ideas on safely speaking out -perhaps have a speaking-out committe, chose 7or 8 topics assigned to different groups who can handle the different topics under the rabbi's guidance we should all be given much courage and focus to make intelligent decisions

After Fukushima disaster it could be dangerous to eat large amounts of soft cheases, green salads and fresh milk becouse of radiactive Iodine. This types of food should be all under strickt inspection for radiactive particles. Better afraid and cosious (ehh.. call me parranoid if you like) than suprised, sick and sorry in the future.
