Obviously I know about a marriage counselor...

But I'm choosing to talk to my BFF! It's cheaper! Lol. And they know me!! I wouldn't want my BFF to tell me to go to a marriage counselor... Duh, I know that!! And yes, if I'm in a terrible abusive marriage, take sides!!! That's why I'm her friend, bc I know she'll always have my back! Just wondering, were you ever in an abusive marriage? One that you couldn't crawl out of? I thank GD every second for my listening caring friends!!!

Opinions can be needed

The one size fits all approach does not always work. Agreed, you should be cautious about offering advice and taking sides. Telling your friend that she is entitled to a new kitchen can cause problems, as can a man telling his friend that a day of golf is normal when his wife is struggling for a few hours free time on a weekend. But one see abusive men and women and sometimes a friend needs to be told that, and to speak of for him or herself.
