I understand you came from Svalavar, Czechoslovakia. My mother was born there. Her name before the war was Jennie Ackermann. My born was born in 1919. If you remember my mother and her family, I would love to hear from you.

(73) Aliza, August 20, 2013 3:29 AM

Wow!

The only peace of mind I have, is that the Nazis and Hitler, yemach shemo, are being repaid for their actions by Hashem.

(72) PETER FIELD, July 24, 2013 7:27 PM

GOD BLESS BOBBY

Amazing!

Amazing story, thank you! It transcends the lines of religious vs. not religious, etc. and reminds us no matter what, we are Jews.

Everybody must know this part of history

Not only JEWS but Everybody must talk, see videos about the most part of "human".
Because it must never and never begin again.
Everybody must care about antisemitism...
And for Rescapes of this tragedy: stay and stay together because it's part of a Family's heritage.
Teach and teach...
And I will never forget the pictures i saw at NATZWILLER ( FRANCE-67) ( medical' experiences...). Many JEWS of the East of Europe were deported in this "devil's house". I don't imagine about Auschwitz, but the "courage" is to see what Men did to others because of Religion and "inferiority" mind: Tziganes, Resistants,Sicks persons.
Best Regards and Shalom Yall'.

Todah Rabah

Thank you Bobby for sharing your story that what you had to endure will not be lost to future generations. I was born in 1944 so was just a baby when all this was taking place. Even though I am in the diaspora and have no proof of my Hebraic heritage, I feel a great remorse for those who had to endure the Holocaust. I am thankful for those of you who were spared and still walk in the love of HaShem May you continue to live in health and Shalom. Bless you from the depth of my being.

Question for Bobby

A wonderful video about the strength of faith and courage, and the healing power of love and devotion to others. May you continue in good health for many years to come, enjoying your precious family and being a beacon of light for the rest of us.

If you can verbalize it, please answer how does a person purge hate from himself? There must have been a time when you felt this towards those German beasts. How did you purge that feeling towards those who murdered your family and nation?

(67) Leah Hiller, July 17, 2013 10:42 AM

Incredible person you are! Thank you very much for sharing. Cried the whole way through the interview being a child of a sole survivor. Your bitochon is inspiring. May you and your family be gebenched.

It is very inspirational. I hope i can grow to be as giving and selfless as you one day.

Thank you!

Thank you for sharing your story. There are no words to describe what you went through. The taste that you gave through this video made me feel the aveiulus of Tisha Ba'v, and also a bit of the nechama - because when Hashem looks down and sees someone like you you, who can go through what you did and emerge with such emunah and positivity, He no doubts takes one step closer towards bringing the geulah shelaima. May you have continued good health to enjoy the nachas from your beautiful family and to continue to inspire others.

(61) Anonymous, July 17, 2013 12:28 AM

Invaluable and simple

Two of the powerful quotes that Bobby so unassumingly taught in this fantastic video which to me seemed to encapsulate the entire presentation.

Hate is destructive. If you hate you destroy yourself.

If you do things for other people you forget about yourself. You forget your sorrow because your busy doing good for others.
Thank you Bobby

Most moving and inspiring production

We watched this presentation on Tisha Be'Av and found it both moving and inspiring. Bobby comes through as a unique person with such a positive attitude to life. Her lack of bitterness and acceptance of the difficulties she had to experience are something we should all emulate. May you, Bobby, have continued nachas from your beautiful family.

Nachas

Dear Bobby, May you continue to schep Yiddishe nachas from your entire mispacha, and your ancestors in Shamayim are shepping nachas too.

(43) Julia Konnik, July 16, 2013 7:30 PM

thank you

I have a russian-jewish background and we are baalei tchuwa living in Berlin, Germany. I have often heard that the survivors do not talk about what happened. I have often heard that non-religious survivors could not establish a healthy family. The more I would like to thank Bobby and the makers of the film. Bobby's life show that belief in Hashem help supernatural things happen. That we should not hate and destroy ourselves with it, but keep eyes open for people around us to be there for them.

(42) Yitz Moller, July 16, 2013 7:13 PM

Bobby, You are a beautiful person inside and out. Thank you for sharing such a personal part of yourself with the rest of us. To see your many descendants is not only nachas; it is the best revenge. Am Yisrael Chai.

(38) Donna, July 16, 2013 6:09 PM

Thank you, Bobby

I have always heard personal experiences from non-frum survivors. While I am touched, nevertheless, I am especially touched by a woman who recounted things like the Shema, davening and all of the other activities frum Jews participate in. Bobby's story was not just of survival, but of survival while remaining true to her roots.

(37) Anonymous, July 16, 2013 5:53 PM

(29) Michal, July 16, 2013 4:49 PM

Very moving and inspiring

Bobby, as a child of Holocaust survivors, I have always felt the need to somehow be involved in perpetuating the memory of the kedoshim and educating the new generation in a way that goes beyond what they can read in a text book. You have certainly done that yourself! You are as brave today as you were seventy years ago.You inspire me!

(28) Anonymous, July 16, 2013 4:47 PM

goldie shawel, July 17, 2013 3:39 AM

Bobby

My parents are survivors as well and are b"h still alive. My father yelled about the war all of the time. My Mom was quiet.I am 57 years old and still feel the effects of what they went through and how it impacted my life. My parents did the best that they could to raise us but unfortunately it fell short. However, of course I now know and understand and harbor no ill will. I was so inspired by your courage and commitment to yiddishkeit no matter what! I watched the video and then went to the Holocaust museum here in Dallas. Bobby I went with more strength and determination because of you and my parents. I cannot say how much this video has impacted my life today. I have so much gratitude for you...your smile, your whole family gave me so much chizuk...love back to you from Dallas.

(22) Sara Rigler, July 16, 2013 11:12 AM

Beautifully produced film

Not only is Bobby's story moving and inspiring, but the way Naftali Schiff put it together drew out of it every nuance of meaning and significance and wisdom. The final shot--of Bobby and then the camera panning out to see more and more and more of her descendants was utterly brilliant.

evelyn rutstein, July 16, 2013 11:53 PM

Thank you Bobby for your inspiration

Thank you Rebetzin Rigler, for your right on target summary.

(21) Rabbi Yoni Schick, July 16, 2013 5:31 AM

(19) Tammy G., July 16, 2013 2:01 AM

Thank you so much for sharing your story

Bobby, I was enthralled by your story on so many levels!
I will never be able to hear Shema in the same way again! I was so inspired by your story, but mostly by your reaction to everything that happened to you. How you chose to believe in Hashem and do things b'simcha despite everything you've been through. I especially loved your message at the end of the video when you said, "When you do thing for others, you forget about your sorrows!' I cried so much, when at the end you see a picture of you with your entire beautiful family. Wow! Out of the ashes, look what you have created! Thank you so much for sharing your story. You are an incredible role model on so many levels! May Hashem continue to bless you and your family!

(18) Dorith, July 16, 2013 1:24 AM

Thank You Bobby for sharing your story!

(16) Esther, July 15, 2013 8:03 PM

Bobby, I wish I knew you!

Thank you so much for sharing your story and yourself with you. It was very special to hear how someone brought up with a strong faith experienced the Holocaust. I was particularly moved when you mentioned how the group after group shouted "Shema Yisrael" when they were brought into the gas chambers. To have that clarity in their final moments is amazing, and all the more so when the jews who went through the Holocaust were of different levels of religiosity.

(15) shlomtze weisz, July 15, 2013 7:40 PM

Bubby's emunah and staunch faith mothers us all. May you have lots of nachos from both your biological children and the many that this video gives birth to spiritually!

(14) Shani, July 15, 2013 6:53 PM

Overwhelmingly beautiful and inspiring

Overwhelmingly beautiful and inspiring!
Bobby is a living mussar haskel--a teacher to those of us who did not live through what she did--of how to go on with life, with joy and appreciation for Hashem's blessings, even in a world that has poured so much sorrow upon the Jews, and--Hashem yerachem--continues to threaten us.
Bobby, thank you from the depths of my heart for embodying what "Ivdu es Hashem b'simchah" means. May you continue to derive much nachas from your lovely family until we all greet the coming of Mashiach, b'mhairah b'yamainu!
