we can learn a lot from the shamash
the shamash is there representing self sacrafice bc it is giving up it's glory for the purpose of letting others' shine. bc u use it to do melacha so there is a greater honor to the other candles and as each nigh progresses and it does this act over and over, its oppurtunity increases and the act becomes greater and greater. and by doing this great act of giving, it's not taking away from itself, but instead it is building its greatness bc when you give, it only adds to what you really have. another thing to keep in mind when you're staring at those eautiful lights and the humble shamesh on such a seperate level.

Thank you for your excellent insight! I never heard this beautiful explanation. Is there a resource on this understanding you could recommend?

it's awesome just remember the real miracle of channukah
just remember that the real channukah is that we won the war with no fighting chance bc we stoodfour (eh eh c what i did there?) what we believed in, but the miracle with oil is most stressed just remember what we're really celebrating.

For those wondering their backgrounds...
They were previously Maccabeats, Yeshiva University's accapella group. They have since graduated and bc of time constrants, have made their own group. From what I read, 3/4 of them joined the Maccabeats in a recent European show. They can be found on YouTube and Facebook, under Standfour.
August 27, 2013 1:15 AM
what if another really awesome maccabeat graduates and stand four wants them to join them? then it couldn't be called standFOUR any more, could it? and i'm sure they couldn't keep on changing their name after a new person joins, that would be very confusing for the fans to keep track. example: so what is it these days?standsix? no, last i heard it was standeight. maybe I'm being ridiculous and standfour will keep their group the same people, but like i said if there's a really awesome singer, wouldn't they want him? and then it just couldn't be called standfour if there are five or six people.
December 13, 2012 9:12 PM
I really love the maccabeats! but could you please put the lyrics underneath so I could understand it better! Thanks so much!
