Talking about this yesterday in Kol Nidre services, the Rabbi said "Moses did not attain his goal to enter the land of Israel, he failed" and that is where the Torah ends, we close it, and start to read it all over again.

except if you are a single female, no-one will give you a chance, at dating if you made the mistake in the past of not making dating a priority. The individual can be as focused and committed as possible towards getting married, but the community will not give her a chance, these are the Jews that are tossed aside regardless of how sincere their attempts are to form a future.

My thought is to take your eyes off the goal of getting married and focus on serving others and loving life. Sometimes when we focus too much on what we do not have it twisted us all up inside and we are seen differently by others from what we believe we are. Instead, focus on what you do have. You have opportunities to forget about yourself, walk in humility, and care for others, serve....the sick, lonely...those with burdens...serve your community with no concern about recognition or return. This will make you lovely and you will find joy in your lot. Well, at least that is what I have learned.

Thank you for your video. I relate to the chocolate chip cookies. If I am studying at night or I awaken and I start to study Tanakh or some other book whether it is a Siddur or just Jewish Word Dictionary, I am ok. If I cannot get back to sleep and go turn on the tv... I can forget about not eating. There is always something there and who doesn't like carbs! Sweets! Thank you, I know that I am not alone. :)

Charles, thanks so much. it couldnt have come at a better time; just last night my daughter was in tears cause she was doing terrible in school and thought she couldnt save the year.(in my country we're in the middle of school yr) This article should give the strenght she needs to get up and out of that hole.

Charlie, your messages are always right on target. Your cookie story helped me this past week to break the habit of eating late in the evening. When my shift had changed, I knew it wasn't wise to eat supper after work when it was 7:00 or after. I broke that habit this week. And on a plan to "get up" from some other things also, even after many years. Thanks for your encouragement: YES WE CAN!

Excellent! Since we left the garden, Our living adventure is to try and try again, to make things better for ourselves and others. What we do is filled with attempts and failures, but we must do, as Charlie says, is to try again.

I hope that you know the joy and encouragement that your videos bring to me every time I watch one of them. I fall down a lot - and then I think I can never get up again - and watching this video made me think that I can get up again. Sort of a confession here...I intended to observe Rosh Hashanah and did nothing that day, nothing, but take the first day off from work. This morning, I was thinking, "You're nothing, Sarah, nothing...a failure as a Jew...ultimately as a person." Then I watched your video and I feel hope again. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Yom Kippur is on the way and I am looking forward...not backwards...again.
