What is this song called?

Sorry to step on anyone's toes . . .

. . . but this video is long on wishful thinking and short on answers. The video's second frame shows a prayer from a hospital room. Haven't all of us prayed for the recovery of a dear relative or friend, only to have our prayers ignored or denied, and at which point we're fed some pablum that despite our prayers, God in His infinite wisdom beyond our human understanding knew what's best. So, if that's the case, why bother praying? Then the video shows us a soccer player praying for a goal. But what about the prayers of the players from the opposing team praying that he misses the goal? Don't they count? Finally, the end of the video assures us that "all" (not "all Jewish") prayer ascends from the Temple Mount. But what about the prayers of billions of non-Jews, who address God by different names from their own holy places. Doesn't He hear their prayers too, and if so, isn't it correct to say that prayers can pretty much ascend from any place?

God DOES answer our prayers. Alas, there are times when the answer is no/something we do not want to hear. Re: The soccer player in the video. Of course that person would be praying to get the goal. However, if he doesn't get it there may very well be a life lesson attached. Finally, it truly is IMPOSSIBLE to know why one person ostensibly sails through life while someone else is met with many challenges. Nobody ever said this life was easy. I know I have had my share of challenges to face. However, praying makes things better even if the outcome sometimes disappoints me. Shana Tova Umetuka.

Childlike faith

It sounds like you have a lot of knowledge about God and who people claim that He is and does and you are completely right. But to accept all this you need another ingredient. This ingredient is called FAITH! Faith is unexplainable. Children have it when they look at their mom or dad. They don't have the complete understanding or knowledge of what is going on, but they know that when they are in their parents arms all will be well! They feel secure and are comforted only by the knowledge that mom and dad are there. It is this kind of Faith it takes to know and trust HaShem also. Unfortunately, as adults we loose this naive faith or trust in our parents, our friends, our spouses, our worldly systems, and our God. We call this loss education, wisdom, maturity or even enlightenedness! But a wise Rabbi once said: "it is only by becoming like one of these little ones, that we can see the kingdom of God!" I pray that you will soften your "heart" so that HaShem can help you to re discover that child like faith you once had uncluttered by your present knowledge. Surely, this will rekindle that childish innate feeling of just running into your father's arms! He is waiting for you! Don't let life rob you of this reunion! Shanna Tovah!

I want to share something very profound with you. My niece is the youngest of two children. When she was five she told my sister-in-law that she had davened to Hashem for her mother to have a baby. She said "But Hashem said no" She understood that G-d always listens as He had done so to her prayer but sometimes the answer is just no

Praying on life and/or death issues is much bigger than wanting the last piece of chocolate cake left on the table. Why not think of prayers for the smaller things in life as possible or probable and keeping us in practice for a larger global prayer we might actually need. What if all of us came to a conclusion that prayer was the key to making universal change for the better on this planet. What if it were that simple but typically it’s either taken for granted or everything diverts it, even ego and power and money…Tests! . If we all prayed for peace and meant it, it could become a reality. All for one, and one for all….

May be I'm missing something

I very much respect the kosel for what it is.

I have a difficult time praying there as it seems more like a tourist trap than a Holy place. There is so much controversy there, so many elements that are pulling our nation apart - causing so much enmity - the exact reason that we don't have the actual Beis HaMikdash and only have a retaining wall.

May each of us be inscribed for a Shana Tova u'm'suka - being able to see the good in all that Hashem does.

Prayer works!

I have seen prayer work numerous times. He listens!!!

Anonymous, September 6, 2015 5:57 PM

HaShem always listens

Hashem hears all of our prayers - sometimes the answer He has for us is the one that we want to hear and sometimes it is not. When we don't "get our way", it doesn't mean that the prayer didn't work or that He didn't listen. It probably means that what we are asking for is not what is meant to happen.

Hanni, September 6, 2015 6:40 PM

AMEN and AMEN!

Prayer is the answer, please Hashem, may this be the year of our redemption!

Serving G_d - The Torah Plan

As an individual and also as a member of community - completeness, peace, and joy follows a devotion that is found in the Torah Plan. here we find the power of prayer - here we find the insights set forth by our Creator. Bravo G_d - we are transmitters of the influence of G_d's plan - the Torah plan. there is no better insurance for every Jew than the "highest" WORD!!

Flying "ptakim" with prayers

The ability to send my prayers to the Western Wall is what helped me get through three years of my dear שלמה ז׳ל illness & passing.
