Congregation Beth Am wanted to buy a special present for their beloved Rabbi Bloom. Rabbi Bloom hardly spent a penny for himself, and so noticing that his suit was getting a little ragged, the congregation decided to give him a new suit.
Rabbi Bloom was so touched by the gift that the following Saturday in shul he stood before everyone and, with tears in his eyes, announced, "Today I am giving my sermon to you in my birthday suit."
