Mrs. Epstein, an English teacher at King David High School was pulled over for speeding near the high school where she worked. As the officer asked her for her license and registration, Mrs. Epstein’s students began driving past. Some honked their horns, others hooted, and still others “admonished” her for speeding.
Finally the police officer said, “Miss, are you a teacher at this school.”
“Yes I am officer,” Mrs. Epstein replied.
“You can go now,” said the officer without giving Mrs. Epstein a ticket.
“You mean…but…without a ticket,” Mrs. Epstein asked, confused.
The officer responded, smiling, “Lady, I think you’ve paid your debt to society.”
