Shloimy Shwartz had an adopted son who, at the age of only 14 was six-foot-one and was a basketball prodigy. The boy was applying to an elite basketball camp, and a section of the application called for him to write a brief essay about himself. Shloimy read the essay over first and the last paragraph began as follows: "Most of all I am thankful that I am adopted…" Shloimy got a lump in his throat. But then he kept reading, “…because my dad is so short."
