Rabbi Rothman was the new rabbi in town and he and his family were settling into their new home. It was his first home with a lawn so when he saw a small boy pushing a gasoline-powered lawnmower down the street with a "For Sale" sign on it, Rabbi Rothman stopped him.

“Hello son,” said Rabbi Rothman. “Does this lawn mower run?”

“It does,” said the boy. So Rabbi Rothman bought it.

A while later, the boy was walking past the Rabbi’s house and saw him pulling on the starting rope with no success.

Rabbi Rothman noticed the boy and said, "I thought you told me this mower would run!"

The boy replied, "Well you have to use a bunch of swear words to make it start."

Rabbi Rothman responded, "Son, I'm a Rabbi; I don't use swear words!"

"Neither does my father but trust me, just like him, you keep pulling on that starter rope and some'll come to you!"
