Rabbi Seth Goldberg decided to lead his Beth Israel congregation on a shul mission to visit various historic Jewish landmarks in the United States. Their first stop was at the famous Touro Synagogue in Rhode Island which was built in 1763. A local non Jewish tour guide was taking them around the sanctuary. She explained that back then, shul etiquette was very formal and services were often very lengthy -- frequently lasting three hours or more.

After a few moments one of the shul members piped up and said, “The more things change, the more they remain the same, right Rabbi Goldberg?”
