Since he was a little child, Moishe wanted nothing more than to be a member of a country club in his home town. As he grew up, he understood that he would never be accepted because he was Jewish, so he decided to convert. He moved away from his hometown, went to a Baptist church, converted and changed his name to John Smith. He moved to a different town, had plastic surgery to change his Jewish features, and joined the Lutheran Church. He became well established, proposed to and married a non-Jewish woman, and one day decided to go back to his hometown to join the country club.

He applied for membership, presented all of his credentials and waited. One day later, he was called to an interview with the club's board of directors. They sat on large chairs, smoked cigars, drank whiskey, and then the club's president said: "Mr. Smith, we are really impressed by all of your credentials, your economic success, your family, but we still have one question for you before we approve your membership: what were you before you became a Lutheran?"

To which Moishe replied, "A goy."
