A local bar was so sure that its bartender was the strongest man around that they offered a standing $1000 bet.

The bartender would squeeze a lemon until all the juice ran into a glass, and hand the lemon to a patron. Anyone who could squeeze one more drop of juice out would win the money. Many people tried over the years including a world champion weightlifter but they all fell short.

One day a scrawny little Jewish fellow comes into the bar, wearing thick glasses and a polyester suit, and says in his tiny squeaky voice, "I'd like to try." After the laughter dies down, the bartender grabs a lemon, and squeezes away. Then he hands the wrinkled remains of the rind to the Jewish fellow.

The Jew clenches his fist around the lemon and six drops fall into the glass. As the crowd cheers, the bartender pays the $1000, and asks the little Jewish man, "How did you do that? Are you a weight lifter or something?"

The Jewish fellow replies, "No. I work for the Jewish Appeal."
