The UN has done nothing except for blaming Israel for every thing that happens around them. They is no positive help from the UN they do not know how to think for the better just to improve themselves

The U.N. is almost certainly the world's biggest purveyor of Anti-Semitic and anti-Western propaganda and lies. It would be virtually impossible to cite any good the U.N. has ever done. The money that is misused annually by the Western World to fund the U.N. could accomplish so much good. It could feed the hungry. It could build free enterprize infrastructure to make poverty stricken nations independent. Ending all funding for the U.N. would be one of the best things the Western World could do.

In response to Mr. Cohen who favors the UN over some dire alternative, I believe that he is mistaken. Cohen admits that the UN has been biased against Israel and also it is well known that the UN sponsered Durban meeting was an orgy of antisemitism. Whenever an organization displays such savage indifference or worse to the well-being of a particular ethnic group, that organization ceases to have value. Anyway, the UN did nothing to stop the genocides in Rwanda, Cambodia, or Darfur. Global War has been averted because of the mutually assured destruction of the major players. Actually, if the UN would cease to exist, things would be no worse in the world.

The so called Human Rights Committee's vote this week to sanction Israel for Human Rights Violations is one of the best reasons for letting the U.N. go. Great change would be needed for it to do any good anymore AT ALL.
I wish to G-d that it were not on U.S. soil.

Lester B. Pearson was our 14th Canadian Prime Minister, and instrumental in helping to set up the United Nations in 1945. The fact that he helped set the foundation means that I am biased in favour of keeping the United Nations - especially the peacekeeping forces, in which our men & women have a long, proud service history. The United Nations is like any other group/company/organization - you have to go through the basket of peaches once in awhile to weed out the spoiled or rotting ones.

For all its faults, having a democratic, universal venue where different nations can work out (at least some) problems through discussion, and formulate and implement common goals, beats the heck out of the alternatives: a) no-holds barred World War, and b) an autocratic few nations deciding and controlling the destinies of all, as in if the self-styled "G8" ever realizes its goal of replacing the UN.
The existence of the UN was one of the critical factors that allowed the Kennedy administration to find an honorable end to the Cuban missile crisis that did not involve nuclear annihilation. And let's not forget that, contrary to Messrs. Parker and Stone's puppet show and Bush administration claims in 2002, UN weapons inspections WORKED in Iraq; i.e., they kept Saddam from obtaining or developing WMD.
So despite the completely out-of-balance influence of Islamist and anti-Israel voices in the General Assembly, the Rich Kids' Club nature of the Security Council, and the miles of red tape, I'll take a world with the Un in it than one without it any day.

guess they need some more practice

The United Nations is much more than you ever see or learn about. While the General Assembly is the focal point of the UN, there are hundreds of organizations behind the scenes and on the ground doing good. The GA is a total waste, but without that structure, none of the other branches of the UN would be able to function. And they would probably do a lot more if its members actually paid more than half their dues.

The U.N. started out as an idealistic idea after WWII. Then turned from a nepotistic organization into one dominated by petty dictators, terrorists and Israel and the U.S. haters. Send them back where they came from.

The UN is chiefly an international bureaucracy to ensure humane treatment to mankind. Sometimes the question is not what makes a human being, but what humans are capable of doing...There's just not so much oversight that the UN has on world problems when some of it's leaders believe in absoluteness. In retrospect, extremism in any creed can be bad to others, especially Christian Crusades and Radical Islam.
