Lashon hara is bad.
I think the first part was funny but coming down to the main thing in the movie i think speaking all types of lashon hara is bad.

Like feathers blown on a hill in the wind
I think a big danger of lashon hora is that the speaker can never really fix what he/she did. Once the damaging words have crossed the lips, they are out and are capable of doing much damage. It can be spread to Heaven knows how many people. It is not something that can be fixed, like going to someone you've hurt and helping to make amends, like repaying someone if you've stolen from them. On top of that, the number of people it affects can be very great, as the video showed. The information went out to numerous people and posioned their minds against someone, so they were not free to make their own opinion. It brings disunity and distrust and suspicion between people where there should be none.

the tragedy of it all
I don't know if anyone noticed that the result was that a caring father is going to be harassed by the child protection services. I've had friends who have had to go through this gehennom. Child abuse does occur but facts need to be checked out not assumed!

Speaking up when necessary
Loshon Hara is evil. It is what divides us and prevents us from uniting as a people. However, it is equally important to speak up when wrong is being done to help establish justice in the world. I wonder if someone had spoken up sooner about Bernard Madoff if he would have been able to bilk as many people out of their savings as he did?

What If There Really Is Something Wrong?
What about cases in which yes, indeed, the target of l. h. is in fact doing something wrong? Do we all give each other a free pass in order to avoid hurting the innocent?

Lashon Harah in schools
I cannot tell you how many times I've witnessed long-term and irreversible damage being done through the words of Lashon Harah. It is the responsibility of every Jew to lead by example and guard thy tongue.

The danger of Lashon Hora!
In the Torah, it states that one who embarrasses someone, looses their portion in the Next World. Saying Lashon Hora can bring bad to a person and could send shame *or* embarrassment to their name. Such thing should not be done.

lashon Harah can ruin your life
I cam personally testify that Lashon Harah has ruined my life, exactly like in the movie. Once that tongue gets rolling there is no stopping it and it acquires a life of its own, snowballing all out of proportion. We often don't realize the far-reaching consequences of gossip and innuendo.

Everybody does it.
It is not the worst sin..but it does do harm and eveybody does it...just read the newspapers, TV and movies. We are boring with out some gossip.

Gossipping usually occurs in middle school, high school, and the MSM - not just entertainment news. It's much like in a game a telephone where children pass a whispered secret around the table, and when it is announced it comes out all distorted as a spun message. We all usually hear what we want to hear, whereas the exposure is disproportionate from the impact.
