growing halachically wiser
This reminds me of how when I was younger, I anticipated marrying anyone. But, for the past 6 years, I feel I have grown older and wiser after a couple visits to Israel, where I know or believe I should marry a Jewish woman. I feel that is smart/wise love, as opposed to marrying anyone off blindly. Thus, maintaining or restoring a Jewish lifestyle can be rather challenging, since I grew up reform, and I'm rather disappointed that reform Judaism doesn't seem to have a shidduch system. Nonetheless, I always have been and always will be Jewish given the roots in my family and my Jewish soul/neshema.
