Words and arrows are the same: Once they have been released we can not call them back. All our words should be "good arrows". Words of truth, seasoned with love and grace; destined for encouragement; giving or protecting honor; patiently challenging the foolish and at all times reflecting G-ds character.

speaking badly about someone else is such a great sin. this is a perfect example of why it is so important not to speak badly about others. everything we do has an effect on the world whether we see it or not. we don't know what one word could do (for the better or the worse)

all too often
In working with teens, I find that often the greatest challenge is in getting them to believe in themselves. My favorite quote: "Whether you think you can, or you think you can't - you're right." You don't have to believe that you will accomplish whatever you set out to do. But you need to believe that you can. Because if you don't believe that you can, then you really never will. Allow yourself to dream, and anything can happen.

having high/low expectations
We choose to either have high or low expectations. To ask whether we tend to underestimate ourselves reminds me, in particular, when I was at a job training seminar and one of the lecturers mentioned someone who wrote a cover letter having very low expectations assuming he had to settle for the lowest common denominator...The bottom line to our self-expectations is that we ought to have optimistically realistic goals in life.
