Jtube: The Truman Show

Looks like there is free will to the ego,but all our responses are learned and conditioned. Only the ego needs to believe it has free will. God runs the whole show so show up, walk yourself thru the paces and fulfill your destiny still doing the best you can to be the best you can be. There is a GOD and he is with you every moment you are alive and afterwards too.... so that one day , in the human form only, you can figure out how to return to your true spiritual home merging into that ultimate ocean of love....- that's why you are not fulfilled and often so empty. Keep up, we are all destined to makeit home. Free will is an illusion.

Great Movie for everyone, frum or not! Every jew plays the same role as Truman! We are all the main actor in our own movie, Ais and our job is to play the best role possible. G-d watches ove-r us every second, and we have the choice to come close to Gd or go farther. Hopefully we come closer. Thanksh.. we love you!!

i think that this teaches us that we literally do have the whole world before us to learn about and discover. We are on a stage and Hashem is the most important one watching. We just have to get over our fears. It really means getting out of our comfort zones when it comes to doing something truly brave and courageous and inspiring to others.

THis was a powerful movie, that my kids basically forced me to watch, as I really do not stop to watch movies anymore for years. In our post-discussion I found that we each got something personal and different out of it that was real for each of us. THe Jewlatious question is apparent and running through the course of the movie theme. How much choice is there if our Creator also creates the movie set and the rest are all players around us and we are stuck and we don't even know it, etc??? BUt in your clip, which spliced scenes from various stages of Truman's self-discovery and attempts at freeing himself, the thought of a medrash came to me. THis referred to examples of a few personalities from the Torah, but for example, Reuven the son of Yaakov who ultimately freed Yosef from the pit said that, had he known at the time that his story was going to be transcribed for posterity in the Torah , he would have lifted Yosef out and paraded him home upon his shoulders, in high style, with a marching band (so-to-speak) and great honor. G-d knows what we are going to choose because he transcendes time and yet he allows us to make our choices and he allows the consequences of these choices to result, whether heroic or tragic, and therefore it is our task to act and choose so carefully, being cognizant of our true Creator's faith in US!!!
