Great example of group think
There's a psychological phenomena called group think, where mob rule determines behaviour, This is a perfect example of how it works. While this gag - which I don't find the least bit funny - is basically harmless, it's easy to see how people can go along with brutality, racism, bigotry, bullying, etc., when "everyone else is doing it." No one wants to be the odd man out.
