Really??

The classic Mary poppins theme lingers on. The classic overworked person reframes his life and gives the people in his life the time they desire. It doesn't work so well in reality. Bosses demand a lot and in this day and age "you are fired" is the classic response when a worker prioritizes home over work. It's a supply and demand principle also. Someone who is busy doing important things is more valued. The goal isn't to chop up the "to do" list but to add in family time to it. Don't cut the things you must do- instead make sure that your mind is 100% on your loved one when you are spending time with them. Turn off the cell when you are reading a bedtime story or eating a candlelit dinner or even rehashing the crazy parts of your day and hearing the crazy parts of theirs. Don't break out of the busy but redefine it. Add into google calendar 6-6:30 play ball with my son. And let him see the entry. And give him the attention you would give the owner of a Fortune 500 company. The time will pay back higher dividends then the best stock out there.
