Where did that actor get his Jewish accent?
I found the clip to be funny, but the actor portraying the Jewish store clerk didn't have a believable Jewish accent. Where did they find him?

It looks like Milton Seltzer
Possessing one of TV's more identifiable mugs, Jewish-American character actor Milton Selzer was here, there and everywhere in the 1960s and 1970s, playing a host of usually unsympathetic mobsters, gamblers, and crooks with a sad, almost pathetic quality in about every popular crime story offered, notably "The Untouchables" (1959), "The Fugitive" (1963), "Hawaii Five-O" (1968) and "Mission: Impossible" (1966). Always in demand with his trademark glum face, bulb nose and spoon-shaped ears, Selzer went on to enjoy a five-decade plus career.

A hidden episode?
I watched Sanford and Son all the time, I never seen this episode. This is great! They must have kept this hid and didn't want it shown because of some people outcry. There are plenty of black people with Jewish decent and Sanford embraced that fact in this video.

Sometimes all you can do is laugh.
Even today, the clip has a certain charm.Imagine how funny it was 35 years ago, when it 1st aired. Jokes about race and religion, on prime time sitcoms, were still fairly new stuff. These jokes weren't racist. They were in the vein of social commentary -- humourous, but striking close enough to home to make you squirm a little.Norman Lear was probably THE master of the genre, in the '70s. He brought us "Sanford and Son", "Good Times" and "The Jeffersons", which allowed black protagonists to express the same kind of self-deprecating humour for which Jewish literature and theatre had long been famous. He also brought us "All in the Family", "Maude" and "One Day at a Time", which never shied away from racial, social and economic issues of the day. This comes as no surprise: Norman Lear was one of our own (as well as being a social activist). To those writers below who feel they are above a little self-deprecating humour: Yes, it's a great honour and privilege to be Jewish. But get off your princely throne and reread a volume or two of Sholem Aleichem. It will do your humility some good.

I enjoyed the video, it kind of reminded me of one where Archie Bunker went to a Jewish funeral. I think what he meant by don't you think you have enough problems he meant by him being black. Like a black female Muslim would be at the bottom of the totem pole--black And female. But the man at the store was trying to explain things to a newcomer.

not funny, or to be joked about
why do we make a joke about our religion and ourselves.that time has passed. We should be proud of people joining us religiously, whether through new found past history or a conscious effort to be a part of what and who we are.not funny, not joking but a serious life event.

The time is now
How can you say the time has passed to laugh at ourselves?
Through 2000 years of exile and oppression we have found the time - and the strength - to laugh at our plight. We have also had enough wisdom to turn our critical eyes inward, as well as out, and laugh at our own foibles.
So why do you think "that time has passed"?
Is your life so perfect?

Being Jewish is a privilege
Being Jewish means one is the first born child of HaShem. Now this fellow is a royal prince. What terrible haskofa are you putting forth by him being told "you did not have enough problems" on being told the he has just found out he is Jewish. This is no joking matter. It really bothered me that you could put up such a clipping.
