A shame

It´s a shame that so many families fight over these kind of things. Something most be done about the aficoman, except for fighting. It´s suppossed to have children awake, not fighting!

i also have fond memories about finding the afikomen which was needed to continue the seder........todays "modern jewish family" generally ends the seder at that point............too bad......but i remember the "miltz", the seder done in hebrew and no one understood anything but i waited patienly for my 4 cups of wine...............

Building Pesach memories

I happen to like "Curb Your Enthusiasm." Larry David makes himself out to be kind of a putz, but he, and the show, are often very funny! I wouldn't pick on the Seder inaccuracies too much; if people really want to know how it's supposed to go, they'll ask a Jewish friend. I was born but not raised Jewish, so my holiday memories are more recent in vintage. Just attended a FABULOUS home Seder with some friends old and new last night. There was no kids' table because there were no kids. Happy, happy Pesach, everybody!!!

The Punchline

What made this episode and this piece so funny is that the man who tells Larry about the father giving away the location to the son is supposed to be an accused sex offender who is shunned in the neighborhood. Larry met him and he gave Larry some golf tips, so to repay him Larry invited him to his home (much to his wife's consternation). Now, it turns out that this sex offender is actually the most honest and seemingly ethical person at the table. That is actually the provacative statement of the entire skit. Like much of this series (which I think is brilliant) it is an acquired taste and not for everyone. Sort of like Manichevitz Sweet Wine. Happy Pesah.

We had a kids table too. When at my parents house my sister and I had to sit in our bedroom all the way away from everyone.....when at the other adults houses we had a table in the same room so we could be part of everything....

Huh?

It seemed as if something were missing in this skit. I thought that Larry David would come up with something clever. Instead, he accuses the father, and everyone starts shouts. This is supposed to be funny? I think the punchline was left in the bookcase, next to the matzoh.

not funny at all

it is not funny at all that kids sat separately. We Israelis sit together with kids all ages. And Afikoman is only one shtick from Seder there are funny songs, plays and Aficoman hiding and finding.

There are many factors that cause there to be a "kids table". People in houses often have spacious dining rooms where everyone could sit at one big table. Growing up in small apartments, it was common, due to size and shapes of the dining rooms, for there to be a kids table. Sure, us kids felt a bit left out, but this is life.

i dont understand why people think curb your enthusiasm is funny. that was boring and lame. so awkward and dumb. teamed with seinfeld it worked out well, but on his own, larry david is too much george. the jerk store called, they said they're running out of you

afikomen is found later

One correction for this funny episode: After the father hides the afikomen, the children aren't supposed to look for it right away. Only towards the end of the Seder, when the afikomen is supposed to be distributed to be eaten, are the kids supposed to find it.

Empty

The only good I found in this astonishingly empty scene is the high motivation it gave me to start browsing around this site, printing out fresh, meaningful and inspiring stories to add depth to the feeling the kids get out of the Seder. After all, after this video, I wouldn't want THAT (or anything like it) to happen here.

from 1 minute seders to all nighters.....

the fact that so many jews gather to commemorate our historic ingathering & freedom is quite remarkable considering how inept and shallow some of us are. Today, hopefully our kids realize how much room for improvement there is in Jewish expression at a seder and in our daily lives. The one and only religion that promotes questions, analysis and honesty endures from one generation to the next. If we can get over our jewish learning deficits and admit our shortcomings, which is taking place in many homes today, the seders will really rock and roll with generation bridging action and serious fun/challenge. 5 years ago, my grandchildren- all under 6 years old, hijacked our seder with their unique insights and enthusaism which was contagious from the beginning to the end- great til the last drop! Keeping a few adults awake was more of a problem than keeping the kids awake til after midnight. We should all have a wonderfully crummy pesach and that this wonder bread should wake us up with each mouth drying piece, to appreciate our place in history and our ability to bring more order to our lives.

you're incorrect on all counts, and it is not funny, it's pathetic

this is a terrible and inaccurate video. first one finishes the mean prior to searching for the afikoman, and secondly, one does not give money during the Seder.

aunts and uncles!

The men in the family stayed at the table for HOURS and the ladies [ and me ] spent ALOT of time in the kitchen!!!! Homemade everything-including my Aunt Gertie's delicious gefilte fish!
