there is a book called tanya where it teaches you the whole meaning of why we are here in this world in suc a beautiful manner. you can search you childrens questuons online and write it as biased on chassidus. you would have very good and meaningfull answers to give over to your children

True pondering by 5yr olds too
I can actually relate. Altho my 7yr old boy never really asked questions the way my 5yr old has and still does, they both ponder this same question. They not only asked this question once but ask it often too. The first time did catch me off guard. It brought me back to that age and how I thought about Gd yet I was completely attached to Gd since then. I do tell my kids that they r on earth to help other people and to do great things in their life to serve in this world. And they still ask but how and why they even exist, what was before they existed and what woulda happened if they didnt exist, i mean sometimes i wonder if all these and more of these ongoing questions are normal. Im just glad I can confirm Gd to them so they r solid in their own life and experience certainty of who Gd is for them and the world they live in. Its not a simple question but I think its a wise one that parents have a duty to teach their kids truth about GD!

It mentions in mesilas yesharim, the path of the just, that G-d wants to give us pleasure, and so He gave us Torah and mitzvos here, so we can earn pleasure in the next world. - sidenote, by learning and practicing, we bring light and blessing to the world also

The main purpose of the entire world is to allow Hashem to dwell in this world - with the coming of Moshiach. Hashem placed humans in the world for they are the only creation that can prepare the world for His coming. Each Mitzvah that we do brings Hashem closer until we do enough Mitzvos that Hashem will bring His entire being into this world, the upper and lower worlds with intermingle, Ruchnius will be revealed as Gashmius is to us now, and we will have Techias Hamaisim. Hashem wants to dwell in this world. In the past, He has been greatly revealed in this world but the more sins of the generations, the further away He gets pushed. The generation of Adam and Chava had Hashem fully residing in this world but with their sin at the Eitz HaDaas, Hashem's presence began to lift from the world. Followed by the sins of Kayin towards Hevel, and the generations to follow up, their sins conjoined lifted Hashem's presence. Through the generations of Avraham, Yitzchok, Yaakov, Yosef, Moshe, etc. They drew Hashem's presence back through their various Mitzvos, which led to the generations of Dovid and Shlomo Hamelech whom have built the Bais Hamikdash, the resting place of Hashem. Ever since the destruction of the Bais Hamikdash, Hashem's presence wishes to return to this world, but He needs the people, the Jewish people, to create the ultimate dwelling place for Him - during Moshiach's times. In short: The reason why G-d put us here is so that we can make the world fit for Him to live in it.
