The interviewer doesn't totally get it.

The interviewer tells Buffett, the Jewish way is to work hard and then pass it down to the kids. The Jewish interviewer says nothing about Tzedakah/Charity, which is one of the cornerstones and greatest mitzvahs in Judaisim ! Only Mr. Buffett mentions charity in this interview. How sad.

Inspiring Priorities

I love that line "Enough money so they can do anything, but not enough so that they can do nothing."

Charity

I'd buy a big house where we all could live.

Unbelievably Moving!!!

That's it folks! It's all about realizing what our lives r all about - investing for the next world! Even Buffet acknowledged that there's nothing more pleasurable than "Giving" and being aware of the future life, not only the here and now!!! Kudos to him and may it be an example to all!

I Would Do Exactly What Mr. Buffett Did!

May he influence many others, causing a ripple effect around the world. How many generations back did he have Jewish ancestors? He had to have had Jewish ancestors.

Pay off the Crooks

First, I would pay the contractor who defrauded us after our house fire so we do not immediately lose our home. Then I would purchase his businesses in order to ensure honest dealings with future house fire victims. Then I would pay for further education for the magistrate who told us at the court settlement conference, "You will not find justice here, only law." When she learns how to dispense justice, her education will be accomplished. I would pay our lawyer's huge bill and strongly suggest that in the future, she not threaten to drop her clients (whose witnesses were never called) because she is too busy with a multi-million dollar mining law suit and we "can't afford her and she cannot afford us." Lastly, I would hire a top-notch lawyer to convince my mom's long-term care insurance provider that running us in circles for two years is not the way to do business with elderly clients. What do I know, though? I'm really just a teacher and an artist. $40 billion? I agree with Mr. Buffett; charity is the best way to go. Every life has its problems; each day has its evil -- but we know God is greater than all of this, blessed be He! It's not about money. We should not let our lives become bitter or ruined from other folk's lack of charity when we have free air to breathe, ground to walk on, food to eat, clothing to wear. We have faith, therefore, we are the richest people on earth!

Wow! What a person!

Absolutely right! We can't take it away with us. Everyone should think about that in EVERYTHING that we do. Only Torah, Mitzvot and good deeds accompany us on the journey beyond our lives. Until then, let's not get too distracted by the "Here and now". Thank you Aish. Inspirational!

Warren Buffett making a difference in the world

Instead of trying to take over the country in the style of the far right Republican billionaires like the Kochs, Warren Buffett is giving it to charities and foundations that are working to transform health globally. He is beyond righteous.
