If you don't believe in something, you are likely to fall for anything. It's not so much Faith as it is Faithful (Emunah). To "Trust" (Betach) is to put your whole weight on! Who do you lean on?

Weird interpretation and characters!
It seems to me that there is an analogy between this giant turtle choosing this small geiko- like as a sheriff and G-d instructing Moses to take the lead of the people! It’s in the human nature to hope and believe that something better will always happen, even in bad times, knowing that G-d will eventually show them the right path. It’s what maintains them alive.
