As an elderly white Jewish woman, I am a strong supporter of Obama as are most of my friends. I resent singling out only one ethnic group to discuss rascism. Especially when they have historically been at the forefront of the civil rights movement.
Even with the provocation, none of the people interviewed displayed any sort of racism, sexism yes but not racism. Now I'd like to have you interview some people in states like West Virginia, Kentucky, etc and see if you can find humor in their responses.
However, it succeeded in what it set out to do, which was be funny..

i dont think it matters how the president looks and if some peaple are racist it shouldnt matter in this situation!!! i mean come on!

THERE IS LAUGHTER IN TEARS AND I HAVE EXPERIENCED BOTH WITH THIS VIDEO.
ANYONE WHO CANNOT SEE THE HUMOR AND GOOD ENERGY IN THIS VIDEO NEEDS TO GET A LIFE......IT WAS MORE FUNNY BECAUSE IT DROVE HOME BOTH VIEWPOINTS AND THE DUDE SITTING AT THE MAH JONG TABLE WAS ONE OF THE CUTEST THINGS I HAVE EVER SEEN. AND HAVING WORKED IN THE BROWARD JEWISH COMMUNITY IT WAS A PICTURE PERFECT TAKE ON GOD'S WAITING ROOM.....LONG LIVE THE EARLY BIRD SPECIAL AND THE CONDO COMMANDOS....QUICKLY BECOMING AS EXTINCT AS THE NOW DEPARTED RASCAL HOUSE....THE BEST RESTAURANT THAT EVER GRACED COLLINS AVENUE.....AND I AGREE WITH THE LADY WHO SAID SHE WOULD VOTE FOR AL SHARPTON BEFORE BARUCH OBAMA...REALLY. AT LEAST SHARPTON LETS YOU KNOW HOW HE STANDS ON AN ISSUE. AND IT DID GIVE ME THE IDEA TO VOTE FOR HILLARY AS A WRITE IN....I LONG AGO FORGAVE HER FOR KISSING SUKRA ARAFAT.

Race a non-Issue
While some may try to embarrass people to vote for Obama to show they're not racist, Obama's race should be a non-issue.
Hillary is not the white Obama or the female Obama. Obama was the #1 most liberal voter in the Senate, Hillary #16. Being #16 means you're not unreasonable or a reflexive liberal, but #1 ?! Can someone truly unite a country from the far left? or after having gotten big bucks from the far left in the primaries?
It's equally sad to me to have people vote for someone because they're young. King Solomon said, "The building of the youth is destruction, the demolition of the old is constuctive." If his policies are wise, and he has youthful energy too, vote for him. If you believe his transformation into pro-Israel, vote for him. But please don't make history on the backs of Americans or Israelis.

Truth is not driven by fear of racism...
It is of vital importance to bear in mind the racism card is often played like a spoiled child using whatever is at hand to get their way. The color of a man's skin doesn't make him a criminal... but neither does it make him a saint. It is clear that a large sector of the media... and a tremendous number of racists... will try to make this issue about race. IF Colin Powell were in the ring he would probably get my vote, but Barach Obama... NO WAY!!!
As far as making comedy from the issue... I like comedy... comedy makes me laugh. I laughed a lot while viewing this video. I was not laughing at the people in the video. In the initial viewing I thought they were either actors or were teasing with each other. I was laughing at the CONTENT. To me that means I thought it was good comedy. But then again, now thinking about it, maybe I really should have been crying...
p.s.-this is not intended to be a subliminal endorsement for McCain either.

Youth is what we need
Our future lays with the youth of this country not old farts like McCain. He is basing his vast foreign policy because he was a prisoner of war on foreign soil. The only time we heard of him was when he was involved in the Keating scandal. I am older than he is and am sure in much better health and I would not undertake the presidency of this country. Obama will take us to new heights.......

It is inappropriate to regard this videotape as funny. In order to find it humorous, one would have to view Jews as given to bigotry and tastelessness. Even if Jews' behavior were typically boorish and strongly manifested racism, there would hardly be anything comical about that fact.Knowing one of the interviewees, I learned that these people had been led to believe they were to be asked for their opinions on a timely subject, the election of the next U.S. President. Instead, questions were posed in such a way as to make participants appear ridiculous. The program's goal was clearly to elicit laughs rather than to add to the public's knowledge and to stimulate thinking. Comedians welcome laughs, but lay people expecting to take part in serious discussion do not, especially when a program is set up to cause viewers to laugh at them, not with them. We Jews do ourselves a great disservice by taking ridicule and denigration lightly. Jews are not fair game for any comedian looking for laughs.

Funny! Well done! Thought provoking...?
My mom lives in FL and she's voting Obama - but she's not Jewish (Methodist/Presbyterian) - I'm a Jew, live in Jerusalem, and I'm writing in a vote for the bar mitzva boy whose drosh I heard a few weeks ago. Given in Hebrew, I followed along on a 5 page English translation - articulate, reasoned, moving, inspiring - this kid could REALLY do a great job as president!

Be a light unto the nations...
As the nation of Israel, a nation and a people with a history of such horrid and repeated episodes of suffering and oppression, let us never forget that it is our role to shed light on the issues of race which continue to divide the world. Shame certainly would be the fate of a nation which has become too proud to remember its own suffering at the but of exactly such issues. Open your hearts and your minds to the en-light-enment of one world and let that light shine forth from you to the nations.
May the best candidate win regardless of color, creed, race or religion.

President OBAMA!? I don't think so.
If you look at the history of the names of past presidents they are all nice, clean-sounding, easily pronouncible names.
Johnson. Carter. Kennedy. Taft. Harding. Wilson. Adams.
Okay, so they're out of order, but never mind that. You get the point.
You're allowed to have a funny name if you run for president (e.g. Michael Dukakis, Estes Kefauver) but you will never see one of these guys win.
Besides, Obama sounds to much like Osama. And though we don't talk about it much, I think it's made a huge impact on our collective consciousness.
So, hang it up, Barak. Save your money.
August 7, 2008 10:32 AM
Whew! I thought you were serious.
Oh, I get it. Those recent comments were merely spoofs, to go along with the spirit of the hilarious Daily Show piece. Because surely no members of the "people of the book" could be that closed-minded and bigoted.Obama will be elected thanks to the faltering economy, a war that attacked the wrong country, no reasonable plan to save the environment, no push to break our oil addiction, failing schools, America's tarnished image around the world, and, well, the list goes on and on...

Where's the beef?
Barrak Obama is by far a smooth talker, but there is actually little or no substance in what he has to say, other than, "when I'm president, bla, bla and bla. He recently remarked to our leading general in Iraq, was absolutely shameful, and as if the General had to kiss Obama's and all other liberal politcians behind. I feel the real Barrak Obama is hiding in the shadows and we have yet to see the other side of him. He may fool the youngsters with his sweet song, but not those person knowing that Obama is actually a snake oil peddler. One has but to look at the history of the man and those he chose to support. He has not changed, and never will. He is an actual disgrace to the Negro population of the United States.
August 6, 2008 6:12 PM
If you research his staff you will find that they blame us (das juden) for getting the U.S. into Iraq, they say Israel is bad, that we are responsible for the death of our children and families in Israel for her policy towards the oppressed Palestinians not Hamas or Hezbollah. Yes according to him and his staff they think that everything is up for negotiation all of Jerusalem and Israel. Israel must get the big picture, the needs of the many (the Arabs) out way the needs of the the few, yes us Juden. So move your junk out of your spare rooms because all the Jews in Israel will soon be moving into your homes because they got kicked out of their homes in Israel. Maybe the lord messiah Barack Obamanation will allow us to move into Ghettoes in the U.S. so we can all be together in one area... easier to protect and love us! After what he did and his staff did at the Kotel there is no way I would ever vote for this man. He sat in the pews for twenty years and never heard the evil that came out of his pastors mouth, his hate for America or Israel? Who among us doesn't know what our Rabbis think and what they say to us while we sit in the pews? Change... Hitler promised Change too.

August 6, 2008 9:34 AM
Obama why not.
I loved the show, l love to hear old people talk because they speak their mind this helps me to appreciate my parents but also as well as learn something about their times and what they held dear. Their minds are at liberty to speak what they think and they have spoken, obviously Obama in their times would be a no. What about today what does the majority think, but then also who is the majority and why do they think what they think? I would be tempted to think that the majority probably don't like Obama but they believe that it is only change that can bring a turn a round, something different and not the routine but as well l would not discount God's hand in the darkness of the ballot box for reasons known to Himself whether for Obama or McCain.
After David's song of praise in the book of 2 Samuel chapter 22 where he attributes his succeeds to Ha Shem 2 samuel chapter 23 tells of his last words, (we can borrow a leaf)….verse 3…When one rules over men in righteousness, when he rules in the fear of G-d :4 he is like the light of morning at sunrise….rain that brings the grass from the earth. We know David was a humble God fearing man, humble enough to listen and change his mind in accordance to God's guidance. Today education has taught us this is stupid and not a reality in a world that requires man's guidance. When l vote l look at what l think but also allow God to change my vote in the darkness of the ballot box why? He knows better plus l rely on Him, if only we all trusted in Him and accepted his judgment. Whom would l vote for? You guessed it right Obama why? Because l am human. If McCain wins l will thanks God and pray for him.

It concerns me that people get off the issue or facts that Obama is so far from an American that it saddens me that he even has a possibility to be voted in. Even his wife only a few short moths ago saud, "This is the first time I really feel like an American."Where has she been all her life that she just now feels like an American? It was best said by the previous comment," God is ultimately in control. We have our elections and we make our plans but God can and does over rule it all. That's why Israel exists today." There is no good selection for president and there is no one that could ever fix our problems anyways, so God help us!
August 5, 2008 11:30 PM
I'm also a senior (74) I don't know whats wrong with most of the people that sent you a comment. Isn't anyone aware of what's happening in this country? Don't people over 60 read anymore?? Maybe retirement has effected their brains. Are they all bigots? We have to get rid of all the liars and crooks in congress on both sides of the fence. This administration has all but destroyed our country and they want more of the same. We need to vote what's good for the people and not how we personally feel.I'm ashamed at this interview that you are showing. I'm embarrassed at the attitude these people are showing. They act like little spoiled children instead of reliable mature citizens.
August 5, 2008 10:47 PM
Yes, Obama will get my vote
I'll vote for Obama because he said in Israel, loudly and clearly, that Jerusalem is Israel's capital, and that he means a Jerusalem that's Undivided.
August 5, 2008 1:51 PM
I listened to this during lunch as I was sitting at my computer, eating my curds and whey (they were kosher) and I nearly choked. It should have a warning saying that is is seriously funny.
When it comes to the election, I will certainly not vote for Obama. Those low toned Americans will not let the neighbors in Canada have any say in their elections! We just need to remember what Pharoh couldn't seem to grasp, and that is that God is ultimately in control. We have our elections and we make our plans but God can and does over rule it all. That's why Israel exists today.
August 5, 2008 12:59 PM
I think this was just stupid.
Obama is not getting my vote because I like McCain. McCain has experience, integrity and he is sincere. Obama has associations with a lot of shady character with whom he shares terrible ideologies. It's a no brainer.

Barak and Balaam
In the Torah Balak ask Balaam ben B'or to come to his aid to curse this huge group gathered before him...bnei Yisrael.
Balaam's response was he could do neither good or bad, but only what HaShem instructs him. We all know the story…Ma tovu, Balaam utters blessings over Yisrael. …But wasn't it Balaams idea to have the treacherous Mo'avite woman seduce Yisrael at Sheetim and 24,000 died in a plague because of it. Had Pinchas not stepped in to execute the man from Yisrael and the Midyanite woman caught in the act…it could have been worse.
What I am simply saying is there are words that Barak speaks in his speeches and one's true intent. His affiliations and actions speak louder to me than his words.

Too much to risk!!!
how can any thinking Jew take a chanceand put our fate and the fate of iur Israel in hands of one who covorts with Farakhan, Reverand Wright, and grew up in the light of a Muslim teaching. Err on the side of caution. You have a choice. The most powerful position in the world should not be held by one with delusions of grandeur who is now playing president. We have a choice. Don't take chances with our future and your childrens future. We are all wiser than that.

Give The Guy A Chnance
First let me correct an error, While we all care deeply about the security of Israel ant the whole world for that matter, let truth be told
I happen to know the Barak family both in Kenya and USA and there are no moslems in the family
Second, this is the cahance to truly show the whole wide world that America is who she says she is a country for all
Third, Let the conscience dictate whom we chose and not manipulation of semantics or hearsay

Obama has no clue
I am a Jew and I do not trust Obama not because he is black but because he in not qualified to be President. I do not believe that he understands those who want to kill Americans and especially Jews. I say no to Obama.
August 5, 2008 5:51 AM
I can't support a lie
If Obama had come forth and admitted that he was/is a Muslim but no longer practices it, I could respect him but since he lies about this one basic fact, all his utterings are untrue. Even his long mentor said Obama will say anything that will get him elected. His easy flip on Jerusalem showed his nature. No this Jew won't vote for him. To call our friend and American hero McCain names is uncalled for.

McCain and his post-traumatic stress disorder
I was born and raised in Israel. We know what war is - officially for the last 60 years, and unofficially we were butchered by Arabs for the last 200 years. Maybe this is why we respect our soldiers, and we do not make fun of them EVEN IF they have post-traumatic stress disorder.
By the way, if McCain has it he has it so that you and the likes of you can continue sitting here, enjoy the good life and fall inlove with a new black messiah, who promises to raise taxes after he's voted for president, give more of Israel to satisfy the Arabs hunger for the death of Jews and elimination of Israel (see comment of #1), he offers a cure for the gas problem by suggesting we inflate our tires. I feel pity for people who have no clue who they are (no Jewish identity) and who the enemy is!
August 4, 2008 2:46 PM
Race has little to do with it
Trust not the man who changes his opinion with who he is speaking to. He will side against Israel when push comes to shove.

No Swaying Here
I am a Jew, he is a muslim. Case closed.
August 4, 2008 10:33 AM
it's all about Israel
After hearing his glowing support for Israel, particularly keeping Jerusalem a Jewish city, at a recent fundraising dinner and then back peddling the next day, I would be very cautious of this man. As Israel goes, so goes the world.
August 4, 2008 7:39 AM
The difference is who told the truth to get the nomination...
When a person has almost the same platform as someone else but basically tells people what they want to hear rather than the truth to get elected it should raise an eyebrow. Hillary knew that it wouldn't be easy or prudent to get the troops out of Iraq in 18 months. So she was the real straight talker. Senator Obama used the anti-war base to secure his nomination, but then after visiting Iraq appears to have changed his tune.He really is all about the war, but honestly, it is a matter of trust. Israel is the only true democracy in the region, and if we can't support the democracy, but we would rather support theocracies, and negotiate with countries that encourage terrorism, then we have priorities really screwed up.2/3's of the earth is covered in water, and we rely on that water to get goods and services moved from land mass to land mass. With a large amount of energy being shipped out of the region, security is vital to the National Economy. Who do you trust, since Barack just tends to tell us what is convenient to hear when his talking.
August 4, 2008 7:06 AM
I'm an Obama Mamaleh!
Mr. Obama has won over this 62-year-old Jewish woman--old by some peopple's standards, young by Boca Raton standards! He has his minbd, a brilliant one. McCain is at best senile, at worst suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and scary as hell.
August 4, 2008 1:23 AM
It's not about race, it's about security. I'm concerned that he won't be firm enough with the leader of Iran, and they will see that to their advantage and....G-d forbid
August 3, 2008 8:20 PM
I don't see why Obama wouldn't be our next president. However, it's shocking to me that many people still aren't confortable with an African-American as president. McCain isn't any better at all since he is running such a sleazy, dishonest campaign attacking Obama more than focusing in on the issues. Personal attacks are very, very counterproductive, regardless of whether such put-downs are true even in the slightest regard.
It's understandable that many older, Jewish voters were disappointed that Hillary Clinton didn't get the nomination, even though individuals in a higher age bracket prefer her the most. That disappointment is understandable, since I would've wanted Joe Biden to win, which is not the case now.
All in all, there's no reason why Barack shouldn't win, especially since most of the circumstances are on his side. The only way he wouldn't, and McCain would get ahead is if the McCain campaign uses scare tactics on likelihoods of terror. For now, he just seems to already be scraping at the bottom of the barrel in order to win the president-elect.
Those who run nasty campaigns either end up not winning, or they do a terrible job in office as the negativity they used comes back to haunt them. What goes around, comes around!
