Yes, nobody can steal your thoughts and your beliefs.....and if we don't understand why society is the way they are today by investigating and studying the past, the history, then we are bound to make the same mistakes.

I believe we should be focusing on solutions, not just outdated scare tactics. Make a recommendation on how we can prevent this from ever happening again, something everyone can sink their teeth into. Make one recommendation. Just one.
(27) Rachel, 6/8/2008 keep moving up Our sages teach us that a Jew is either moving forward or falling behind. The only thing we have control of in this world is our spiritual growth. Although world peace is in my prayers, anti semitism will likely exist until the arrival of Moshiach and until that happens, we cannot be surprised at anything. (who would have dreamed up the collapse of the World Trade Cemter?) Upon reading many holocaust books I noticed that throughout the horrors of those years and different experiences people went through, the personality of each person came through in their reaction to their challenges. Kind people mostly stayed kind and selfish people stayed selfish. (I'm not, G-d forbid, judging anyone, I have only the utmost reverence for every single victim of the Holocaust - who were mekadesh shem shomayim- every one of them). Additionally, those that were brought up with a solid background of Emunah Pshuta and loads of Bitochon, generally feared better (emotionally). All we can do is be the best we can be and try to move upwards.

Are we to continue the history of being victims as a Jew in the eyes of an intolerant non Jewish Western or Arab or Moslem world? or is the world that surrounds us fearful of having too much of our salt of becoming a victim to our being the alleged owners of the world's brains, wealth and heritage? In either case, without G-d's protection, kindness, truth and justice...we lose.
For myself and all of my family to choose G-d with all of our frail might does prevent our denigration into the "living dead" state faced by many wanderers whose ultimate destination is disintegration - like a majority of Jews today face - as aimless straphangers on the subways of the world going nowhere's pretty quickly.
May we all choose Life to become living members of ourselves , of our living people and of our Creator. Together we are One. Alone we become straphangers.
(25) feig, 6/8/2008 Do our share We have to be careful about what our actions are and worry what we are preparing for the future. Judaism teaches us that a person has that what he cares enough to prepare ahead and it is the importance of our heritage which we have to be mostly concerned of to keep safely and intact for the future. What will happen with us physically is only up to Hashem. We can only hope to do our best to keep a good record for Him to find us worthy of only the best....

it could happen again, that we should be aware that they hate us and want us dead.
Secondly:I think that if we will unite against them in prayer and war-all Jews from all over the world,we will be able to make a diffrence and sey NO to terror.

(14) David Weitzman, 5/8/2008 Just like fashion in clothes history repeats itself but never in quite the same way I am aware, I try my best to make others aware too, I am a non-observant traditional Jew who has a head and history in this country in this country where my family has been since the late 19th century, but for all of that my heart is with my family here and also with our country Israel. I have no illustions that it could happen again, I just hope that it does'nt.

Look what happened in Israel-no one protested or said anything when two dead Israeli prisoners were exchanged for live Arab murderers. There is a rise in anti-Semetism in the most unlikely of places-Flatbush, Brooklyn, NY. There have been swastkias drawn and anti-Jewish comments made. We need to wake up to reality if this does happen again, G-d forbid, it would be worse than its predecessor with the new technology and apathy towards the Jews.

They came for the Jehovahs Witnesses, and I said nothing because I was not a witness.....and on and on.... When they came for the Jews no one said anything because they weren't Jewish. The US is on ly a friend of the Jewsish people on the surface, and it wouldn't take much to scrape the veneer away to expose the anti-semitism.
(10) GDP, 4/8/2008 Anyone who thinks it can't happen again is a fool and is afraid of the facts! I sincerely believe that a holocaust can happen again! I one hundred percent agree with Sara about the world reactions to present day situations. Although I don't know too much about politics and current world events I can tell you now as a frum jew that little I do see or hear I am shocked at. All I can say is that the world better shape up before it is to late.

It's sad how we didn't learn the lessons of Vietnam, and how there have been a number of genocides after the Holocaust in Europe, even after establishing the UN.
Ben Franklin was right that a democracy is a republic if you can keep it, so when mediocre minds come to power, it most definitely leads to tyranny. Such "leaders" with a pivotal, closed-minded mentality have done so much damage to their nation and the world. Only the rich chemistry of democracy, checks and balances, oversight, etc. can overcome too much power in such leadership.
As one book says, "Impeachment: The Remedy for Royalism".
Thus, too much of one culture or ideology and the wraph it poses is bad.
I've also read that if people conform to evil, they most certainly can conform to good, and that would be by the understanding of Tanakh and B'nei Noach.

It's happened in Europe (all over), it's happen(ed/ing) in the Middle East, it practically is the history of China, and it's happening in Africa. There's no place it couldn't happen, and anyone who thinks otherwise is being naive.
