6/10/2008 3:49:00 AM Accurate representation of how many singles feel...
How many of us who are not married but would like to be have not told G-d the same thing--- "No..no... I don''t want to be alone!" And it does sometimes feel like, "Here is your umbrella. Good luck." However, like Isaiah 30:15 says, "In returning and rest is your salvation. In quietness and confidence is your strength." ... He is my hiding place. When I am afraid, I will trust in Him.

5/16/2008 1:05:00 AM I will leave you a comforter.
God created man with the need for companionship but he knew that we wouldn''''t all want or find a friend or mate sometimes. So he create Himself in the form of a spirit to keep us company in our lonely moment as we transient into his likes as we grow towards his likeness. God make us wanting not to be alone so that we would long for his presents.

5/15/2008 8:02:00 AM We are not really alone at all. When the need is greatest we come together.
I come from a very large family and an even larger extended family. Over the years my aunts, uncles, cousins and even friends dispersed to form their own nucleus, but in happy or sad times in times of need we came together as support for each other We are all given the desire to not be alone so that we amy find the support we need when we need it. This is one of God''s greatest gifts to humankind.

5/14/2008 3:16:00 PM Never Despair!
LoL! Very funny! I understand the concern from those who think it is scary. But as a person who has been through that despair, it is extremely funny. I have been very fortunate to grow into Judaism and I have learned that we are never alone. Hashem is always there. If you feel alone, remember Hashem has a purpose for us. If you are alone, ask yourself "what is G-d trying to tell me?". Moreover, remember if you don''t appreciate what you have, what is the point of new things. You must come to terms with being alone. after all we are born alone and we will die alone, those intermediate periods of loneliness are for reflection not despair. If we were not born alone, we could not say "For my sake the world was created". Shalom, and to those who are alone, never despair, even when you think the flood is coming! the umbrella is the little remedies we try to incorporate into our lives to fight despair, but in the long run only believing that G-d is One, can help you look at the sky, see the storm, and smile, for Hashem will never abandon us. Good little film.

5/14/2008 2:30:00 PM converts
Converts should not feel alone. Soon we will read the story of Ruth who was accepted by Naomi, a descendent of nobility in the tribe of Judah.
The converts that I know personally have found love and friendship and full acceptance in our Haredi community.
I wish you the very best.

5/14/2008 12:37:00 PM ONLY ONE OF ME TOO
Terrible. Huge ouch!
I am not familiar with this film, but….
What exactly is the message behind this?
That as a single woman I am just a WHATEVER?
That I am dooooooooomed?
That I have missed the boat?
That as if I didn''t feel this way already, even the pure righteous of the generation can be trusted to drive the dagger home. That I should be filled with apologetics for my existence, and be grateful for the generosity of an umbrella in a deluge.
And, wondering what Aish sought to bring out, with the trigger question being what it is. Is there not intrinsic meaning in being married other than avoiding the scorn of society and drowning.
Incidentally, there is only one of EVERYBODY, each one of us with our unique mission, to steer our own individual ark, and in our own way, to save the world. Too bad we ourselves, and the world around us, have such a hard time internalizing that. (please post this one.)

5/14/2008 11:53:00 AM Lonely converts
Dear Anonymous - I have heard this ''alone'' feeling from others who have converted, but have not actually experienced it myself. I am wondering if there is a (simple) difference in self-presentation or a (more complex) component of religious identity that may be awry for those who do not feel a part of the family. There must be some sort of support community where folks who feel "other" but are not can gather - even electronically.

5/14/2008 10:09:00 AM Shema Yisroel...
God is alone, God is one.
Why did God create a human?
We may trick ourselves into believing that we are alone, but how can we ever want something about which we know nothing?
I love Gonzo''s clumsy nose!

5/14/2008 9:49:00 AM Outcasts
Like the movie, Outcast, our protagonist has beautiful scenery enough to eat, stable shelter, no war...but four years after island stranding still strives with every fiber of his being to find a way off of it.
God is alone. Why did he make a human? Because he wanted us to undergo, experiment, and uncover the sharpness of His singularity?
We don''t want to be alone...but we never are. We trick ourselves into truly believing this sometimes, but how can we want something that we know nothing of?

5/14/2008 7:55:00 AM That''s me...
I believe many if not all converts into Judaism and/or proselites (the ones still strugling to be accepted) feel like that. They just don''t belong... faith in the G-d of Avraham made them renounce their background religion, on the other hand, the children of Avraham have difficulty in accepting them for lack of trust... I can understand that but... we don''t want to be alone... much less, G-d forbid, start another religion...

5/14/2008 7:53:00 AM End time?
At least l got a laugh after a puzzling day or should l say a cloudy day, for me this is a long story in a sentence, a dream that looks very real, the subject is obviously going where everybody else has to go eventually for salvation but just as expected in those dreams where the worst is expected, he does not have what it takes to enter the ark or heaven. It seems to be a funny and serious wakeup call for those of us who think that going to heaven will be a bed of Roses. If it turns out to be a dream as in this case then you win, which is unlikely, l am sure we will have to belong spiritually.

Very hurtful to some singles who might be visiting this site. Especially when he woke up and is responsible for sending away the only one like him in this short clip. You could do better. Not hilarious at all.

5/13/2008 1:59:00 PM You are never alone!
I used to worry about being alone after my children left home . But I have come to realize that HASHEM has never left and dispite being a bit lonely at first just means that I need to be in Torah more than before and I think thats a good thing. But Gonzo really feels that there is no one like him anywhere and that just cannot be True because our father In heaven is always in ,around ,and poor little birds are never alone you know birds of a feather and all that kind of stuff.

5/13/2008 9:26:00 AM The rest of the story
The entire movie is about Gonzo trying to find out who he is and where he came from, as he feels there is no one else like him. The rest of the movie chronicles his search and ultimate discovery that he is truly part of a family, albeit from outer space. We, as children of G-d have that assurance that we belong to His family and are never alone.

5/13/2008 7:16:00 AM Whats the point?
The litle film entirely misses the point. The muppet is not going to be alone - he will very soon die in the flood. So what is the point of him saying he does not want to be alone? He should be crying that the does not want to die.

This is a very scary and upsetting film, and certainly not one for children, even though it makes its point.
