(16) Eli Ccohen, 23/6/2008 Hahaha I dont get it. I see a lot of simpsons shows but this one i dont get.
(15) Ronni, 15/6/2008 Hahaha! Oy, was that funny! I really got a good kick out of this one and unfortunately it's true (just visit my allergist who'll prescribe me 10 different medications but be utterly horrified when I say I'm thinking of just trying an herbal supplement).
As to Sam the Man, to the extent that the surrounding culture has an effect on Jewish society, it then becomes a Jewish problem. If we all followed the guidelines of the Torah and consulted with Rabbis that follow the Torah we obviously would just be laughing at this but the sad fact is that we are affected by the society around us (the primary reason why I got rid of our television when our children started getting older).
(14)Anonymous, 28/5/2008 unfortunately its truth, not satire Pity the children of overzealous parents who take them to all kinds of "must have" checkups from the dentist twice a year (and must have x-rays each time), to the eye doctor, ear doctor, dermatologist, and of course the pediatrician who has a bundle of new vaccines to administer that will guarantee happy healthy children and eventually abolish death-isn''t that the ultimate goal of medicine? that, and making money. Too bad some of these parents do it to salve their conscience for not tending to their children''s emotional needs. When the doctor pronounces their child healthy, it''s like the "hechsher" that they are good parents.
(13) Nate Druckman, 27/5/2008 Of Course! In today''s society, we see the effects of overmedication. Take a look at what is really in those medications. It really is surprising to find out that these medications contain things that you would normally not want going into your children. You can see that the benefits are not nearly as great as the risks. Before you medicate your children, do research and ask yourself and Ha-Shem, "Is this really the right thing to do?"
(12) David Levine, 27/5/2008 The Ending Voice Actaully Devorah, the last voice was a credible imitation of Jerry Lewis in his prime when he used to shout "LADY," and leave the Vagas audience''s collective mouth open.
(11) AR, 27/5/2008 ''overmaticated *or* not overloved *or* overattention'' We should be worried if people are taking advantage of us and find the proper doctor not out to make millions over us. However, what we don''t realize is , if children aren''t given the proper love, attention, and affection then the emotonal feelings will effect the physical through illnes. Let''s help our children emotionally and then their physicalness will reflect their emotional state. Also, we should earn the money honestly not with wealth in mind and support only the ''true honest doctor'' and plan!!!!! ''Be Jew Be Honest''
(10)Anonymous, 27/5/2008 samtheman -- I agree!! This video has absolutely nothing to do with being Jewish, not one bit.
(9) Angelica, 27/5/2008
I think what brought it home for me is when seeing a program on having 4 year olds being diagnosed with bipolar disorder. When will it stop.
(8) devorah, 27/5/2008 to samtheman what are you talking about?! Didn''t you notice that after the simpson kid got his medical workout he ended up with an old-man bklyn jewish accent? That oughtta qualify this as Jewish! In all seriousness, I suppose you can read between my lines and note that I am starting to think along the same lines as what you expressed.
I feel like it''s beginning to owrk here something like a google system: "keyword ''jewish'' " - and whatever shows up, well that''s jewish material. Also, the "''Larious" part is also starting to become less recognizable. Maybe we should re=-title this segment. How about: "Far -fetched and far-kvetched: comment board for the bored. Warning: contents may contain occasional jewish references and traces of humor."
(7)Anonymous, 27/5/2008 Jewish? Anything can be jewish if we want it to be. The effects of overmedicating our children is actually extreamly prevelent in todays world of jewish education. And I think that it is valuable for people to discuss this from a jewish perspective.
(6) Susan Zuckerman, 27/5/2008 HMOs It''s not so much satirizing overmedicating our children, it''s satirizes how HMO''s take advantage and send you from doctor to doctor so all the doctors can cash in.That really is a disgrace.
(5) Fae, 27/5/2008
I thought this had more to say about the voracity of the insurance companies than the tendency of parents to overmedicate.
(4) samtheman, 27/5/2008 jewish? i would like to open this for discussion.
What is Jewish about this video? I am not saying it''s not important, but it belongs in my opinion in a different type of site. it seems that more and more the videos here are becoming less and less jewish.
does anyone agree?
(3) RICHIE, 26/5/2008 america is ovemedicated AMERICANS USE 51% OF ALL THE PRESCRIPTIONS PRESCRIBD THROUGHOUT THE WORLD
(2) juswhu, 25/5/2008
not so sure. we usually try not to occasionally bring them to the doctors. it can become an issue and not so good for their health and lives
(1) Malky, 25/5/2008 DEFINITELY! as research has proven, sometimes the cure is worse than the "disease." Take x-rays for instance...a few decades ago x-rays were thought to be the magical cure for even the common ear infection....research now has shown the many diverse negative effects "treatments" caused. By medicating where it is not needed, we also make our own natural immune system weaker by not allowing it to fight what it can by itself. If you want more info on prevention vs. treatment... contact me via aish/jewlarious...or respond to this comment
