The Answer
Recently a sportsman hit world headlines and was suspended from the team for making a racist comments. The same applies, and rightly so, to recent anti-semitic comments by a movie star.
Would there have been any fuss at all if these people had poked fun at, on insulted a fat person?

just who exactly is "society"?
The answer to that question is one that demands a second question, yes society puts way too much stalk in how we look, of course, but who is society? We talk about "it" as if we are seperate. Society is not some ellusive small group floating around making oppinions of the rest of us and tricking us into beleiving what "they" say. Like it or not we may not be of the world but we are in it and here goes... WE are society. Stop and think for a minuite about the last time you watched t.v, how about the last time you went to the park, or saw someone walk down your street. Now tell yourself the truth, what secret thought went through your head if only for a moment? I'll bet that if you are honest you might admit that you made a judgement about the person or people you saw. Sure it might have only been for a split second before you caught yourself and corrected yourself, but you still probibly made a call that wasn't yours to make.
The same goes for when you look in the mirror, do you see the person the God created you to be or do you sit and stare at all the things that you would like to change? I know that as a woman I definitly feel the pressure to look good. I have to same arguments with myself that most wemen I know do.
-I want to feel confident about myself and that is hard to do if I look sloppy.
-But, God wants me to be modest.
-I want my husband to be proud to have me on his arm and desire to be with me, look at me.
-My Lord hates the pride of man, and there is a time and a place for my husband to desire me, dinner with the family or his company party might not be that place.
One of the ones that I personally love is... my body is God's temple and I need to take care of my body so I can more easily be used of God if I am fit. Well, how do you feel when you work out, put on makeup, dye your hair or wear those special earings? You feel better... because you look better. How much of our time do we take away from God-filled thoughts or deeds because we want to be "better" for God? They say that beauty lies within, well the outside world can't see your heart and unfortunately we are a people that focus on first appearances. We can say that society needs to change but in ordert for that to happen we first need to change. When you look at another person tell youself before anything else, "God loves them.", and when you look in the mirror tell yourself," This is the way God made me". I do this but untill I stop replying with, "Yah, but God didn't MAKE you eat that chocolate bar.", to be honest with you I'm going to keep working out and putting on makeup and just hope that God can see through all that and find my heart. After all that's what really matters...right?
