Wounded Father on Gaza Border

Last week, during a birthday party for his 3-year-old son, a mortar landed just outside the kindergarten where they were celebrating.

Jehan Berman immigrated to Israel from Belgium and now lives on Israel's border with Gaza. Last week, during a birthday party for his 3-year-old son, a mortar landed just outside the kindergarten where they were celebrating. Unable to make it to the bomb shelter, Jehan shielded his wife and child with his body as the rocket fell and was wounded by shrapnel, which embedded itself into his back.

Birkat HaGomel

There is a special blessing to make in the Synagogue after experiencing being saved from such a dangerous situation. It's called Birkat Hagomel. No, it's not luck. It's a miracle. You need to go to the Synagogue and say the blessing.
Just as your wife wrapped her arms around your son and you figuratively wrapped your arms around all the children there as you guided them to protection, so too did G-d wrap His arms around your family and protect you. Go thank Him!
This video was inspiring. You are an inspiring hero! Thank you.

The G-d of Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps.

Jehan, you are the kind of man that makes other men proud, and you are the epitome of what it means to be a father. You and your family have been obedient to Hashem by returning to Israel, and occupying the Land of Israel. Don't lose heart, because you are the beginning and the future of Israel. There is not just the small sliver of land we call Israel today, but there is much more that Hashem will return to us if we are faithful to his Torah, and if our hearts turn back to him. You and many Jews like you are our hope and our example. Baruch Hashem that you ar ok, and that your wife and son are not harmed. My family and I pray for your safety, and you speedy recovery. Shalom Shalom.
