Israel's Legal Founding

In the last century, no country's birth certificate is more legitimate than that of Israel. Why do Israel's enemies routinely challenge the legitimacy of its very existence?

When the state of Israel was founded in 1948, it was done so with the approval of the United Nations. But today, Israel's enemies routinely challenge the legitimacy of its very existence. So, under international law, who's right? Israel? Or its enemies?

Truth

It proscribes absurd that a people who exist, ought to have to explain their right for existence, except maybe Canaan.

I wish Dershowitz and his kind would stop talking.

Israel is the only country that has to justify its existence because we're the only people that is stupid enough to have the conversation. Every one else simply says "Yeah you and what army" and people leave them alone.

Ashkenazic Jews are the only people in the world that continually show up to a gunfight with nothing more than a good argument. It hasn't served us well. The enemies that we have to worry about show up with guns and knives and bombs. That's their argument and until a group of Jews picked up rifles and shot back our enemies always won. Guys like Dershowitz argue argue argue.

Israel does not exist because the UN gave us a charter or because Lord Balfour make a declaration. Ignoring the fact that G*d gave us the land, Israel exists because a bunch of Jews picked up a gun and said "You and what army." And we won. Jews with guns protected the kibbutzim during the British mandate. Jews with guns beat back the Beduin raiders and the Arab attacks. Jews with guns ran the British blockade. Jews with guns made the British Mandate ungovernable and drove the Brits out. Jews with guns declared the formation of a state-and would have probably done it anyway with or without the UN. And when the UN and the US turn on Israel as they will, Jews in Israel with guns will again say "You and what army."

Dignifying the idea that Israel is illegitimate by debating the idea gives aid and comfort to our enemies. It tells the world that our enemies have a point. They do not. Every time a man like Dershowitz uses the term Palestine or West Bank he concedes that words like occupation and apartheid may apply to us. They do not.

Every time he opens his mouth, my daughter is less safe.

I wish he and his kind would shut up.

To commenter #6 Scott

I was about to stop listening to Dershowitz right before he made his point. That point was that Israel's right to exist is questioned because the world is STILL filled with anti Semites. Granted Dershowitz took awhile to get there, but there it was in black and white.

So true

The world hates Jews and your response to that is the only one that will protect us.
