Gilad Shalit has been in captivity for three years. This film was made a year ago. Last week was his 23rd birthday. Please pray for the safe release of Gilad ben Aviva.

Is it possible that this was allegorical sarcasm?

Is it possible that this was allegorical sarcasm? After all, everyone understands that it is in shark's nature to eat fish, sharks can not change. And neither do the fish. Some might say that 11 year old is too young to think in these terms, but you would be surprised as to how clever literate kids can be.

I am assuming the the allusion is to the Arab /Israeli conflict. Even if that isn't what Gilad meant ,i'm sure it is what people will think when they read it, Especially due to who wrote it . that's why i don't think it should be advertised . We as religioud jews don't believe this is the answer.

Children often just want people "to be friends" no matter what .it is a desire mingled with youthful ignorance and stemming from the natural displeasure that tension and sadness create . they just want the pain to go away. But sometimes the pain can't just go away and people can't "just be friends". Sharks can't become vegetarians and little fish can't teach them to be be ,no matter how much they love them. This story is only getting circulation b/c of Gilad's suffering state .It is a child's dream ,let it remain in a child's head . This should not be advertised here.It is lacking in a core jewish belief that certain nations have in them an inherent prediposition towards certain behavior(like a shark) and they are used as tools to teach,(punish), and guide the jewish nation in it's mission on earth.Their character will not change until H' wants our "story" to end and Mashiach draws the curtain to a close."Aisov Soineh es Ya'akov" is a Law of spiritual nature. Even though it really hurts somtimes.

    naive at best.

it's a little scary to think kids are reading this story as if it is significant and meaningful. more accurate and beneficial would be the story of the scorpion and the turtle. the scorpion wants to cross the river and asks a turtle to carry him across. the turtle says no, you will sting me. the scorpion says no i won't, if i do we both will drown. the turtle agrees. they are halfway across the river and the scorpion indeed stings him. as he is dying and they both are about to drown, the turtle says why did you do that. the scorpion replied: it's my nature. sharks do have to eat... there is no ill will or bad intention in that. this is not romeo and juliet. i would have a lot of commentary if i were to allow young kids to read this story. it's potential message is actually dangerous.
