Anti-Semitism Pushing France's Jews to Consider Israel Move

A wave of hate crime against Jews is forcing many to wrestle with their identity and consider what had once been unimaginable to them – moving to Israel.

May not be so bad

I recently on a bus from Bnei Brak to Jerusalem sat next to a French Yeshiva bochur from Aix-les-Bain who said that Jewish life in France is very very good and he doesn't encounter any problems. He went on to say that he goes frequently to Morocco where he has cousins (his parents are from there) and that life there is very good for the Jews. I've heard that Morocco is the only place in the world where the government gives Beis Din total control over the life of the Jews to enforce Torah law. Why don't you run anything about the difficulties the government is making for Torah educational insitutions are having in England, and recently closed a school down because it wouldn't accept anti-Torah ideas.

one disturbing line

'I'm Jewish but above all, I'm French.'

That woman has every right to stay in France. And I agreed with everything else she said. But that one statement is worrying.

I think any of us living in the Diaspora (including myself) need to remind ourselves that German Jews with that attitude weren't spared from the Holocaust. We can be proud to be French, British or American. But if we have to make a choice, our first loyalty lies with our Jewish identity.

Kol hakavod to the other interviewees who aren't giving in to intimidation and are keeping their Jewish identity strong in that difficult environment. I hope that I would if, G-D forbid, I was in their shoes!

I don't disagree with the alliyza meme... but.
People should not surrender to evil, and run to Israel prima facie. They should fight evil where it is. Islam means submitting all others and if immigrants arrive in numbers and rape women, children, beating others- then the answer is to call out Islam for what it is and teaches. Instead we join in with bogus calls to 'tolerance', 'multiculturalism', diversity.
Bogus. Going to Israel... great.
Running away to Israel... not so great. Because... it didn't fight the evil.
The rest of the world deserves OUR protection from that, from themselves.

No They Don't

The "rest of the world" doesn't deserve anything but contempt from the Jewish people, for their hypocrisy and cowardliness displayed over and over again for the past 2200 years, and never more than now.
The police to whom "Natalie" turned for help preferred to boot her out rather than deal with the problem.
Nevertheless, being compassionate Jews will continue to help others.

My grandma a holocust survivor may she Rest In Peace lived in the states after the war, told us not to ever be comfortable where we live. (Very common line throughout the generations.) There will unfortunately always be a hatred for the Jew. I currently live in the United States “the greatest country on earth no doubt” and unfortunately waiting for the eruption of open anti Semitic acts to increase which already have slowly begun like that in France . It’s only a matter of time till full eruption. Scary stuff!

When you let 10% of your population migrate from Muslim countries, what do you expect. Not all Muslims are anti-Semitic, but obviously enough are to cause concern.

Leave

What are they waiting for? There was plenty of Jew hatred before the muslims came (see WWII). Now it's worse. And the hatred will never go away. Jews should leave for Israel.

Israel is the eternal home of the Jewish people

Israel belongs to the Jewish people. If these nations don't want the Jewish people living in its borders, I believe that Jewish people should move to Israel. Israel is a tech savvy democracy, the only democracy in the Middle East. Israel is a modern day wonder and a very advanced society.

How ridiculous is it that you can't think of leaving?

I am in complete shock that this woman won't even think of making aliyah. She won't come bc of her job and her kids sports! Seriously?
how will you make a living here? you'll manage like the rest of us... Gd is with us here.
What are you waiting for lady????
Wake up and get out of there. There's a beautiful French Shul around the corner from my house in Ramat Bet Shemesh, It's packed with French people.

Complacency and miss-placed values

She put being French above being Jewish. Such people don't have a clue what being Jewish means. Their synagogue is beautiful, but the rabbis have no clue about what Torah teaches. Devarim states Hashem will bring us home, and the prophets teach that He will drive the reluctant ones from exile by using "hunters". The writing is on the wall again, and too many Jews refuse to see it and put their faith in Hashem.
