Brings back thrilling and horrifying images again.

I lived in Philadelphia and was hosting a small group of Israeli kids who were on a trip to the USA. When the news broke, I insisted each visitor absolutely call their parents in Israel and tell them that they were safe with us. Unbelievable time.

We were ready, but we didn't know why

I was in the army, on the Golan Heights on the night of the Rescue Operation. We were told that night to go to sleep with our boots on. Meaning, we were on high alert and were ready for immediate action. We were not told why. When we woke up in the morning and heard about the rescue we understood why the boots. If any of a million things could have gone wrong it could have escalated to war. The rest is history.

Testimony to HaShem covenant with Israel

Just finished my last paper in high school examination. The news was all around in my country Nigeria. Those of us whose parents and scholars are from the Igbo tribe of Nigeria were ecstatically joyous. Somehow we felt something Jewish in us. I remember going to bed dreaming of , Entebbe raid. I always thought that Israel can pull off anything anywhere in the world. Surprisingly back then we never read or heard anything about Holocaust, but we knew Israel was a special place. Now in my mid-years I am persuaded to believe that was a testimony to G-d's covenant with Israel. The Apple of G-d's eye. To the rest of the world, " Don't mess with Israel ".

Wow! 40 years!

Thank you for sharing this incredibly special video. June 27 was my mother's z"l birthday. Believe it or not, I did not fully comprehend the entire story until I watched the video just now.

More than Jews held their breath

More than Jews held their breath and prayed for the hostages that day. There are many who love Israel and the Jewish people.

David Michael, July 7, 2016 5:56 PM

I know that to be true.

G-d has performed so many miracles for us.

The Jewish people have experienced so many miracles from the hand of G-d. It is unfathomable how there are still so many who refuse to see it.

Yoni

According to the recent book "Operation Thunderbolt" by Saul David, Yonatan Netanyahu was killed early in the mission, NOT as hostages were being lead from the terminal lounge to the waiting Hercules transport planes.
According to Mr. David, Yoni himself veered from the plan by shooting at the Ugandan soldier on the runway. The Plan was to speed by and ignore any guards attempting to stop them.
He thought his silenced automatic would quietly stop the guard from firing at their Mercedes. However the guard was not killed immediately, and began firing. His gunfire alerted the Ugandan forces and the terrorists to the rescue.
As the IDF stormed the terminal lounge, fire from the control tower struck Yonatan Netanyahu. He was down before the hostages were reached and rescued. If Yoni did not shoot the Ugandan guard on the runway and kept to the plan of imitating a visit by Amin by speeding by, it will never be known if the guard would have fired. And if he did not there would have been no fire from the tower, and Yoni would have made it to the Terminal.

Divine Providence guided the IDF

The Israeli military and government deserve praise and admiration for their strategic brilliance, their daring and courage. But don't forget that this rescue was really miraculous! So many things could have gone wrong. Watching this inspiring video, I kept saying "Baruch Hashem, Baruch Hashem!" They should have mentioned how many people were davening for the hostages and they should have ended with a word of gratitude to G-d for His divine help and guidance -- without which tiny Israel could not survive for a day or a minute.

Another miracle awaits

The hand of God is clearly evident
He is the shield of Abraham which we ,in our prayers each day,we recall
Israel is a courageous nation beyond description and is steeled by continuous tests no other nation would outlive
This nation prevails despite all odds An example of matchless fortitude
May the promised redemption be speedily realised in our time
