Our Brothers

Inspired by a true story, a non-religious former IDF soldier has an eye-opening conversation with an Orthodox man.

This video is inspired by a true story told by Rabbi Paysach Krohn.

the real rift

The video fails to address the main source of why secular Israelis feel slighted by religious Jews - they feel like they pay their dues to the State by serving in the military while others (many religious Jews) do not need to make this sacrifice. The message of the video is right on, but its portrayal of the secular Israeli is misguided. The secular Israeli is not a childish fool who cares only about whether you will eat a cheeseburger with him. In reality he has legitimate reasons for feeling the way he does.

Not so

I reality, the secular's miss the point that many religious work, even-though a lot learn. The view of being supported by the government is also only focused on the religious jews, if you take a deeper look, the government also hands out a lot of money to the Arabs, yet the focal point is on the religious jew. I'd believe there's an undertone of dislike that is leading to this statement of the secular. Yet, the story can be about an individual, not an entire community. One person with in a community can have his own way of thinking something out & there are many examples, even with in the secular Israel community that they, the individual, choose to go in the Torah path, even with what has been stated by there peers....

You forget, Anonymous, if that is your real name, that throughout history, many religious Jews paid the price and made the ultimate sacrifice because of actions of secular Jews. It's only fair that we, the secular Jews (and although I am not secular, I am not exactly Orthodox either) finally repay that sacrifice.
