Torah and Family
I would take my Bible, my wife, my kids and if I had time my medicine. If I had more time... food and drinks. If I had more time... our wedding rings. If I had more time the most important toys of the kids...

Torah and animals
I would save my Torah and my cat and dog. My Torah guides me to do what is good and gives me peace. It is my connection to generations past and my link to the future. It is G-d's love and law. Without Torah, I would be lost. I would take my cat and dog with me because when I adopted them I made a committment to take care of them and protect them for the rest of their lives. They are G-d's creatures, and I've been blessed to have them in my life. I love my little girls! =)

WHAT WOULD I SAVE....
At the age of 81, a recent widower, I gave thought to what you asked....A few years ago my house was adjacent to a neighbors house on fire, at that time my first thought was to get her away from my house, and grabbed a water hose, and tried and successfully kept the fire away from the house till the Firemen came.. But now the answer is simple, after she died I adopted a dog from a rescue society who becme my beloved companion, and my only action would to get her out and safe... I have many items I cherish, but none so valuble as that sweet friend!

What I took!
Hello,
I am from San Diego and we were forced to evacuate with the fires only a mile from our home. We took our kids, our dog, our computer with pictures, and my jewelry. I took maps in order to navigate my way out- many of the roads were closed due to the fires. We also took a phone book in order to find a hotel to stay at which was away from the fires. However, since basically much of San Diego was evacuated - tough luck finding a hotel! Rabbi, now that I have had a few days to think about this, I realize that what happened was not so so bad. However, I am still wondering if there are examples in the Torah of entire cities going up in flames. I am a non-religous jew so please pardon my ignorance but I seem to remember a story from when we were slaves in Egypt that involved "non-breathable" air. I suppose I am just grasping for meaning when perhaps I should just let it go. Thanks for letting me vent.
