Low carb seems better before fast

Lori brings a lot of great messages to Klal Yisroel, but as a physician and health nut, I find a low carb diet better before fasts. Carbs are fine before exercise, when you need fast energy. For a fast, lots of fat and protein seem better, because they are digested more slowly. Also, carbs stimulate insulin production, which clears the carbs form the blood stream and can cause rebound hunger. I like nuts avaocados and tahini myself.

Also, cucumbers and celery good for preventing dehydration because they slowly release water into your system as they are digested. they don't have sugar like grapes and watermelon.

Gamr chasima tova all!

Thanks for the advise!

This is going to be my first Yom Kippur that I will be observing somehow. I have learned so much about it and I think it's so special. So thanks so much for this advise!

Powerade or Gatorade before the Fast

A cousin told me to drink a couple of bottles of Powerade (before Gatorade had hashgacha) during the day and then one an hour before the Fast begins. I do it on Tisha B'Av too and sometimes other Fasts. I find it helps a lot.

Inspiration

Lori, almost Live, gave some really great advice and some ideas that had not ever occured to me such as the consumption of a carbohydrare rich meal. Being on anitseizure medication requires that I consume some fluid during the day, but hydrating in advance especially since it is so warm to another excellent idea. Thank you.
