Then why are you "Lori, Almost Live"?
Sorry, but that's your product, your brand. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. The idea of "branding" (although I hate that word, it sounds like what they do to cattle) is to identify what you produce that others may want. Marketing is a better word. And in our era, when so little is done by personal references, etc anymore, it's really important for anyone embarking upon a career to be able to identify what s/he brings to the table. One who doesn't market oneself will not be picked up in the business world.

Lori so wise! Thank you!
Lori- we need more of your messages to be heard and listened to ! You're right that the feminist movement has taken about a hundred leaps backwards. Miley Cyrus represents the message that women should be treated as sexual, objects to be objectified by men. this is the exact message that young girls need. It is a serious problem in today's secular world with the internet making it easier than ever for womens' nude bodies to be plastered on websites for men to view, and for the media's emphasis on womens' looks/bodies, and treating women as sex objects. We women are beautiful because of our souls, our compassionate essence, our ability to give and be nurturing. You are so right that as women we can look attractive but be careful to not exploit ourselves and demand that men and others see us as full fledged human beings with intelligence and a soul

Agree and disagree
Firstly, Lori, I love these videos - true nuggets of wisdom. With regards to this video, though, there are points that I both agree and disagree with. I agree that women are not objects. However, I disagree that by branding oneself you are objectifying yourself. The concept of brand is very much embedded in Torah concepts, including “keter shem tov” and making a “Kiddush hashem.” I think it is important how one brands themselves and that she/he does not objectify him/herself in the process. It is important how one portrays him/herself.

A bad apple from a bad tree
She is a product of two adults who should Never have had kids, Ever!!! Unfortunately millions of kids are in this category

What She Knew
Elizabeth Taylor recalled how she learned the difference between herself as a product and herself in real life at an early age in a discussion in Louis B. Mayer's office. When someone asked her later in life, what was the difference between real life and the movies, she explained they were a lot alike, except for $50K worth of makeup and lighting.

you missed the point
Myley is a brand. How can you work in advertising and not know a brand from generic? As a Disney kid, Miley was branded. She was doomed to be lost to her industry. Now she stands out, has broken the "Annette" image and has an adult career ahead in which she need only transition back to acting - if she wishes.
Her music sells. She has not got a great voice, but she grew up learning to make excellent use of what she had.
As to the person. Watch her interview about Beiber and the points she makes about protecting the brand ... she tells him to hire someone to keep him out of trouble, to buy a house where he can party, and makes the point that she has never been arrested, nor is anything she does illegal where she lives. Note Bribed and his father, after a drug bust, get on their chartered plane and stink it up with drugs to point where pilot needed to put on oxygen mask.
Smiley understands the reality of her profession - something many do not. Disney kids vanish ... the most successful crash and burn ... they cannot continue to have long careers, unless they can break the image, Miley took a wrecking ball to it.

No you missed the point.
This is not about how many records you sell or how much money you make or how rich and famous you become. This is about tending to both your body and your soul, about being a multi-faceted human being and not an object sexual or otherwise

Excellent Article- totally agree
As you said, feminism and liberalism today has changed its views on sexuality. Free your spirit and soul and be as sexy and promiscuous as you want to be, whatever floats your boat and makes you feel like "real woman". The hypocrisy is striking.

There is a WORLD of difference between interviewing for a job and doing what Miley Cyrus has done. In the former instance you are branding yourself. You are selling your brains and talent in the hopes that the employer will hire you. Yes, you are attractive but not attracting. What Miley Cyrus is doing is selling herself as a sex object, which is really all she knows. No, I am certainly not branding my young adult son. However, when he goes on a job interview he is branding himself in order to get the job.

Miley Cyrus is a person to be pitied, and one should pray for her neshama. Shame on her parents, the music industry, the media, and the public who encourage her to debase herself in this manner. Let's look for meaningful role models.

You expressed this so beautifully, and it is so very true! Your children are blessed with parents who care about their essence and try to help them develop into beautiful souls.May all children be blessed with such parents who help them live lives that lead to real happiness!

True and sad. Feminists want both, respect and do what they want. But if that are going to flaunt them selves and objectify themselves like that, then how can people respect them. People should realize that if we respect ourselves and protect our dignity, then we will be respected.

Why are women getting no more respect than we years ago? Because our society is screwed up! They have to show their entire body like it's something new! Put on a beautiful costume & sing! Isn't that the talent we are there for? Who is as bad as ms cirus?beyoncé !! The first time I saw her a few years ago grinding those sexual moves I said she she be in a strip club. Oh no!!! She is a roll model..lol It is sad, what is happening in this country!
