On the subject of arms for the 1948 war, the role of Robert Maxwell bears mentioning.

The book, The Secret War Against the Jews, by John Loftus and Mark Aarons goes into great detail about the role of Robert Maxwell in obtaining Czechoslovakian armaments for Israel prior to the 1948 war. It has quotes from some of the American pilots who flew the armaments, including disassembled aircraft packed into larger cargo planes, from Czechoslovakia to what would become Israel. The video on The Pledge reminded me of this book.

I am a veteran of that war, and I can vouch for the uncanny stories that make this period in History so unbelievable.

That period of my 90years was the most rewarding expierence of anything I did before (6 years second World War) or after.

Wonderful book !

I read this book when it first came out - however, I don't think it is available any more - it seems to be ut of print. A pity -- we need this kind of encouragement today as well.

We can teach

The Jewish parents must teach pride of being Jewish and stree how important marrying within the faith will continue the 3000 yr chain.....that is the single most important action you can take...

Once again you gave me something to think about. Thanks.

Please tell me who is the author of The Pledge? I Googled it and there was more than one to be found.

Israel needs a great deal of help in combating anti-Israel sentiments.

I was very moved by your words. However, I cannot agree with your comment: "The State of Israel is doing great." Just read "An Israeli Soldier to American Jews" by Hen Mazziq, which just appeared on the Aish web site, to realize what anti-Israel, read anti-Jewish, sentiments we are fighting in the US, as well as worldwide. I think, Lori, these dangerous sentiments need more publicity, and we cannot afford the complacency of saying "Israel is great," surrounded by enemies as we are, internally and externally. You have a great forum in which to wake up Jews to the dangers! Thank you for your wonderful talks.

The Pledge by Leonard Slater 1970

I am not Jewish but sincerely wish that I was. I bought this book quite a few years ago and it is one of the best books that I have. It was not available by book sellers and I had to go thrugh ABE Books to buy it from a US bookseller. People came from58 countries and not all the volunteers were Jewish but they also died.
