Thanks for these insights! I imagine most people would be willing to sacrifice their lives for Big Important Things, but it's somehow easier to give in when the stakes are less dramatic.

Interim Prime Minister - David Marshall
Hi Lori, your video clip reminds me of a book which I just finished reading. "Marshall of Singapore" by Kevin Tan. It is about Labour activist, criminal lawyer and pro independance politician David Saul Marshall, who is Jewish. Particularly relevant is his article in Straits Times 1954 -I Believe.

Cats I think I am hard-wired to love cats. They are sensitive and responsive and intelligent and each one has a personality, and if raised with humans, they want a relationship with a human. Some have a sense of humor.. They trust people and their little hearts are broken when they are abandoned and contrary to what people think they cannot get their own food what with people using chemicals to kill mice and rats. They have to be taught by their mother.and they need a territory and they need to fight for that territory. Some people get another younger pet and their feelings are hurt. Some get lost. They have to deal with cars and often with city dangers. Some people dislike them, and some turn them over to the shelter where they are held a short amount of time before being euthanized. I want to save them.
Living with them, they are live creatures. They sometimes get sick or nauseous
and throw up or get diarrhea, or get constipated and need to see a vet, but they are worth it. They need a kitty litter box which needs to be cleaned and clean, and the litter replaced. They need food and water. They need love and hugging and safety. Some need more stimulation than others.

But how do you fight?
I must first say that I am British and an ardent supporter of the State of Israel. However we must look at the activities of the The Stern Gang and the Irgun Zvei Leumi.
It was the the revisionists that murdered two British soldiers (one of whom it later transpired had jewish ancestry) and after hanging the bodies from a tree, packed them with explosives. It was the revisionists that blew up the King David Hotel, killing many inocent people, even though a warning was given. It was the revisionists that attacked the village of Deir Yassin killing women and children, thus prompting condemnation from the the Rabbinate of Jerusalem.
Lori, I enjoy you broadcasts which I often find thought provoking, but feel on this occassion insufficient thought was devoted before recording.
To this very day many jewish people are ashamed of some the actions which took place in those pre-state days. Enemies were made who could have been friends.
a point on which to ponder.....

Fighting for Jews as Jews.
To me it is obvious that what made those years among the best in Jewish history is that modern age Jews began to behave like REAL Jews from before the exile. It is sad that you mention that some Jews feel ashamed at Jews fighting even though it is true. What saddens me is that you should be ashamed at the Jews who died in the holocaust not at those who fought.

I am the author of the Apple Orchard just published
I gave many years to the security forces of Israel in the 70's. It is in my book that was just published. Watching the brief video about the 'worth fighting for' comments of the late Yitzchak Shamir only reinforces this. My wife and sons are my life, I love them so much and think about them every day but Israel for me is the reason that I really enjoy life. God forbid, Israel was attacked by our numerous enemies my seat is already booked on the plane to defend her, even with my life.

Thank you so much for this video! I really needed to hear this today, when there are causes I have to make an effort for, but sometimes it seems so far away I think about giving up. Again thank you.
